Tapes ‘N Tapes Insistor Single

An immediately arresting song with a driving, stomping pulse that, although has a unique sound of its own, could be said to be vaguely musically reminiscent of (a very speedy) Johnny Cash, early Coral and (maybe this is just me) slight elements of the theme music from cowboy film shoot-out sequences.

The vocal is both quivering and strongly distinct, with quirky, interesting lyrics and a refreshing melody that takes enough unexpected twists and turns to be new and different. Going from a punchy holler to a haunting whisper the singer draws you in and immerses you in the song.

The B-side track is also great and, I thought, very experimental for a rock band at the moment. An original and dirty grooving track with no vocals other than the apt 'ooooh' that cuts in at out, adding an interesting melody.

Exciting stuff that can be listened to over and over. I'm looking forward to the forthcoming album release!
