British actress Naomie Harris had to undergo serious preparation for her role in Miami Vice - learning how to fire machine guns and tackle drug barons. The film, based on the 1980s television drama, saw Harris rigorously training with the Bronx division of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). And Director Michael Mann wanted the actress to be comfortable in her role as intelligence analyst TRUDY JOPLIN, no matter what the cost. Harris says, "Michael kept saying, 'Whatever you need, you can have. Like, do you think it would help your research to fly to Ghana and meet some tribal leader?' The budget was bottomless. "I learnt to fire machine guns and went out on an actual drug baron arrest."
