Police reports suggest Nicholas J. Louvel lost control of his car while driving through East Hampton, New York in the early hours of Thursday (24Sep15) and crashed into trees.

The 34 year old was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The accident is under investigation by authorities.

Louvel, who wrote, directed and appeared in low-budget movie Domino One, was preparing to attend the world premiere of his new war crime documentary, The Uncondemned, at the Hamptons International Film Festival next month (Oct15).

A statement issued by festival bosses reads: "The family at the Hamptons International Film Festival is deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague Nick Louvel. His passion and filmmaking will be truly missed and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this tragic time."
