An NBC News producer has approached literary agents, advising them that if he could land a book deal for Casey Anthony, she would agree to give the network a one-hour interview that would run during primetime on NBC and be excerpted for the network's Today show, according to gossip website TMZ, which cited no sources. In July, following a spate of rumors that NBC producers were negotiating with Anthony's representatives, the network released a statement saying that it "has not and will not offer money for a Casey Anthony interview. No money has or will be offered, no licensing or other arrangements." TMZ notes that the unnamed NBC News producer has made it clear that NBC would not pay a cent for the interview but has informed the agents that Anthony wants an advance on the planned book. Her lawyer, Jose Baez, is apparently aware of the producer's efforts. However, he told the site, "I'm not involved in that process. I did not entice him to do it."
