Fact: Actress Eva Longoria is set to give fans a comical look at the drama behind the scenes of a Latino hit telenovela by starring in a new Tv series. The former Desperate Housewives beauty will portray diva Ava Maria, the lead on a fictitious soap opera, who is attempting to stay at the top of her game in the appropriately-titled Telenovela. Longoria will also executive produce the show for America's NBC network.

Fact: Celebrities on the red carpet at the Golden Globes faced a drone-cam high above the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday (11Jan15). DJI Global bosses buzzed the arrivals as they posed for photos and chatted to the red carpet media. The Golden Globes telecast on NBC featured footage shot by the drone.

Fact: Amy Adams and NBC bosses appear to have settled their differences after she was dumped from a Today show interview in the U.S. last month (Dec14) for refusing to talk about the Sony Studios hacking scandal - the actress chatted to Today show host Matt Lauer on the red carpet at the Golden Globes as part of the pre-ceremony telecast. The Sony hacking scandal was not brought up.

The group's newly-announced festive show is linked to a new deal with network bosses at NBC. Fact: Former House star Hugh Laurie is in talks to lead the cast of new U.S. Tv pirate drama Crossbones. The British actor is close to signing on to play Blackbeard in the NBC project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The drama will be based on Colin Woodard's book The Republic of Pirates.

The decision by The National Hockey League's owners to initiate a lockout of the league's players over the weekend had good news/bad news written all over it for NBC. On the one hand, the network is still required to pay the league $200 million as its annual payment on the $2-billion 10-year deal it signed with the NHL last year. (If the season completely goes down the tubes, the network will reportedly get one season free at the end of the ten years.) On the other hand, if the lockout lasts only a month or two it frees the network from having to televise the early contests at a time when viewers are preoccupied with the finale of the baseball season and the kickoff of the football season. However, USA Today pointed out today that the lockout could pose a serious problem for the fledgling NBC Sports Network, which was scheduled to carry at least 90 games, beginning on Oct. 11 with a doubleheader. NBC spokesman Chris McCloskey said on Sunday: We are preparing a selection of replacement programming that includes soccer, boxing, original programming, and college football, basketball and hockey.

The original U.K. version starred Dame Helen Mirren in the lead role as a tough female detective.
