The pair have lived in their home in La Honda, northern California, for years though Neil has toured the world extensively.

The pair have two grown up children together, son Ben and daughter Amber Jean, while Neil is also a father to son Zeke from a previous relationship. In 1986, the couple co-founded the non-profit Bridge School, which specializes in educating children with special needs. They also curate the annual Bridge School Benefit Concert in San Francisco, which last year played host to Arcade Fire.

Pegi - who released her first solo album in 2007 - toured as a backup singer with her husband in the 1990s and the pair famously played together at the Oscars in 1994, performing the nominated song Philadelphia.

Young continues to record and perform live - most recently across Europe with Crosby, Stills and Nash - though is turning attention to technology and entrepreneurial projects. In October 2014, Young will release the Pono, a high-resolution digital music-download service to compliment his Pono Player. The music player, designed to compete with the iPod, promises to present songs "as they first sound during studio recording."

The couple were married in August 1977.

We here at Contactmusic.com certainly wish the best to Neil, Pegi and their family.
