Rapper Nelly has created a college tuition scholarship in honour of Michael Brown, who was killed by a police officer earlier this month (Aug14).

Policeman Darren Wilson shot and killed unarmed teenager Brown, a suspected robber, in Ferguson, Missouri and the incident has sparked a series of protests in the state.

Nelly, who grew up in Missouri, has chosen to put a positive spin on the controversy and has set up the scholarship fund in Brown's name. It will help to put teenagers selected by Brown's family through university.

According to Tmz.com, Nelly, rapper T.I., actor Kevin Hart and professional basketball player Al Jefferson will donate $15,000 (£8,800) a year to the fund.
