New Rhodes Songs From The Lodge Album

New Rhodes are set to take the music scene by the scuff of the neck and show that it's not just Indie Pop that can be popular. The boys from Bristol have gone back to basics with the release of their debut album Songs From The Lodge' After a few band member changes and a re hash of the name the New Rhodes have already won best live new coming act!

So to start the album off the album, New Rhodes kick it off with one of the world's longest title (OK exaggerating a bit!!) with 'You've Given Me Something That I Can't Give Back'. They hut you straight away with the hook and have such an up beat, high-energy chorus. James Williams has that vocal feel that Morrissey held in the early Smiths days, and the band have that feel of The Editors. With this formula you are left with New Rhodes and 'Cowardice' just stipulate this and make that point so much more. I mean it is not often that you can say that this band is more or less the finished article, especially when you have only heard their debut album, but you can with these. 'The History Of Britain' is New Rhodes putting all of their cards on the table and say '"This is our sound, aint it f***ing awesome?"
'I Wish I Was You' is by the far the best track on what is a quality album. This just shows that the band can cut it with the faster tracks, but not only that they do it with style and quality. If this is what New Rhodes sound like on record, then how will they sound live in the midst's of places like Rock City where it is the perfect venue to see such a band. Next is 'Open Your Eyes' with catchy guitar riffs and spell binding chords. So now that New Rhodes have got you on such a high they finish things up with a perfect slow ballad in the shape of 'A Different Time'.

Don't take my word for it that this is an exciting act for the future, just watch the summer festivals and the New Rhodes will be making big waves and turning heads. The hardest thing from this album is to find a bad song; it is nice to finally see this again!
