Another singing star has taken heat from fans for her support of Republican U.S. Congressman Ron Paul - Michelle Branch has discovered pop and politics don't mix.
Just hours after Kelly Clarkson unofficially endorsed Paul as the 2012 Republican presidential candidate in a tweet on Wednesday night (28Dec11), Branch followed suit.
Clarkson upset left-wing fans by posting, "I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance," and Branch did the same hours later when she added, "I wholeheartedly agree. #RonPaul."
The Since U Been Gone singer later addressed criticism from fans who didn't agree with her politics and Branch was forced to do the same, adding, "Didn't mean to offend. I am not racist and am absolutely not a homophobe. Just trying to weed through the non-impressive choices!"
Clarkson, who called some of the responses she received online from so-called fans "demeaning & rude" later declared she "actually voted Democrat last election", suggesting that she was a Barack Obama supporter, who has since changed sides.
