In another case of ‘child star gone wrong,’ Taran Noah Smith has finally been charged on that DUI case he got hauled in for back in February. The Home Improvement star, now aged 28 was originally caught by the cops in Los Angeles earlier this year when they caught him in the driver’s seat of his Honda Accord, parked in front of a fire hydrant. The strong smell of cannabis led the cops to search his car and when they found some of the drug in his possession, they placed him under arrest.

TMZ have reported that Taran Noah Smith has now been placed under a six month drug diversion program, after he pled “no contest” to the DUI charge and “guilty” to the charge of possession. He’s also been sentenced to a 12 hour program for DUI and he will also be on probation for three years. He’ll have to go back to court in June 2013 to prove that he’s been sticking to the terms of his probation.

Smith starred as Mark Taylor, alongside Tim Allen, in the comedy series Home Improvement. The show ran from 1991 – 1999 and once it was finished, he had a couple of other acting roles, before deciding to jack it in when he turned 16. At 18, he was handed control of his $1.5 million trust fund, accusing his parents of having squandered it by purchasing themselves a mansion.
