Josh Dallas has described his wife Ginnifer Goodwin as ''a cool mom''.

The 33-year-old actor is in awe of how great a parent his spouse is to their 10-month-old son Oliver, but admits their own mothers have been helping out with the tot.

Josh - who stars in 'Once Upon A Time' with Ginnifer - said: ''We have help, our mothers, (but Ginnifer) is, literally, the greatest mother I know - she's a cool mom.''

The proud father went on to reveal how his son is hitting all they key milestones as each day passes, but confessed that he hasn't got used to the lack of sleep that comes with a baby, labelling decent rest as ''elusive''.

Speaking to UsMagazine.com, Josh said: ''Every day is a milestone. (Oliver) can climb the stairs like a ninja ... hold his own bottle. Every day there's a milestone that amazes you as a parent.

''Sleep is elusive - a slippery devil. I can't seem to ever catch it. There's somebody else that you have to take care of ... you don't think about yourself any more. But it's a pleasure to do that - he's my little dude!''

Josh's lack of sleep hasn't gone unnoticed by his wife. Ginnifer previously called him her ''knight in shining armour'' for how much he helps with Oliver.

She said: ''(Josh) also has not slept since mid-May. I'm always telling him, 'You can sleep,' but he won't, he always helps. He's my knight in shining armour.''
