Niall Horan has risked incurring the wrath of Simon Cowell by quitting the music mogul’s record label Syco, the imprint to which his former group One Direction are signed, for a new deal on Capitol Records.

It’s a bold move for Horan, parting ways with the person who discovered him on ‘The X Factor’ all those years ago, but it’s one that other members of the group have already done in pursuit of their own solo careers over the last year or so.

Robbie Williams wants to collaborate with U2.

The 'Party Like A Russian' singer has revealed he would be keen to record with the 'With or Without You' hitmakers or with former One Direction star Niall Horan.

He said: ''I'd love to do something with U2 but if they are not available Niall will do. I think I just wrote the lyric for it.''

One Direction fans thought the day they’d been waiting for had finally arrived yesterday, when an update on the band’s website seemed to suggest their hiatus was over. However it appears the fan’s celebrations were a little premature and there’s still no sign of when the band will be back. But they do have some new t-shirts.

It all started when the band’s official website added a ‘Future Events’ section, causing fans to immediately think that show announcements were imminent. Almost immediately fans on Twitter started freaking out and the hashtag #ThisIsNotTheEndOfOneDirection began trending.

Niall Horan has reportedly signed a new solo deal with Sony.

The 22-year-old singer songwriter - who made up one fifth of the popular boy band One Direction before they split in March this year - has allegedly landed a new contract with a large music company.

This news comes after Simon Cowell - who guided Niall and his former bandmates to fame after discovering them on the UK 'X Factor' - hinted the Irish star was sitting on some big news.

Just under a week before they drop their new album Made in the A.M., One Direction have released new single ‘History’, which serves as an emotional goodbye to their fans before their upcoming hiatus. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, band member Liam Payne described 'History' as a "modern version" of ‘You've Got a Friend in Me’.

One Direction star Liam Payne has reportedly split from girlfriend Sophia Smith after two years of dating. The pair were thought to be one of the strongest One Direction couples, as they had known each other since their schooldays before they began dating in 2013.

A source confirmed the couple’s split to MailOnline saying, 'Liam and Sophia have split. Liam is incredibly sad, but is going to keep busy. He really hopes that everybody will respect both his and Sophia's privacy and stop speculating.'

One Direction have announced they will play the SSE Arena in Belfast on Friday, after cancelling Tuesday night’s show when band member Liam Payne fell ill. The show on Tuesday evening was set to be the first of a three night run in Belfast for the boyband, however fans have been assured that tonight and tomorrow's shows are going ahead as planned.

One Direction have rescheduled their Belfast gig for Friday.

Writing on twitter Payne apologised to fans and said, "I'm so sorry to everybody I disappointed last night. I'm feeling better now. I really hope everyone can make the rescheduled date on Friday.”

One Direction fans have been going into panic mode since Monday, when the news broke that the boyband were planning to go on a year long hiatus starting next March. But while the band had initially stayed quiet on the reports, three members have now taken to twitter to try and assure fans this is not the end.

We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year,’ Niall Horan wrote on twitter. ‘Don't worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve! Take a deep breath, Directioners, they're not officially splitting up - and this apparently has nothing to do with Zayn Malik's departure from the band. Today it was revealed that Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have agreed to an extended break of at least 12 months, starting in March 2016, to pursue solo projects.

The singer, who left the group earlier this year, took to Twitter on Saturday to congratulate his former bandmates on their first single since his departure, 'Drag Me Down'.

Just a day after Zayn Malik said that he had left them to make “#realmusic”, One Direction are showing that life continues without him as they dropped their first single as a quartet on Friday morning, entitled ‘Drag Me Down’.

The single made a surprise appearance on the iTunes store and Spotify at around 6:30am on Friday (July 31st), followed by its radio debut on BBC Radio 1 a couple of hours later. 1D’s Liam Payne also tweeted a link to the iTunes store, saying “Bit of a surprise! Check out our new single! It’s called ‘Drag Me Down’ & I hope you love it as much as we do.”
