Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter has reportedly been arrested after being involved in a fight at a Florida bar.

The 35 year old singer and dancer, who recently finished runner-up in the 21st season of ‘Dancing With The Stars’, was detained by police following a reported scuffle at the Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West, Florida, according to the initial report by TMZ.

Carter is alleged to have been involved in a brawl inside the bar, to which local police attended and cuffed the star. Details about what triggered the incident are unknown, but according to Gossip Cop his arrest charge is listed as “touch or strike”, indicating ‘misdemeanour battery’ in the Florida statute books.

People magazine says that he was charged by Monroe County Sherriff’s office, but that no information about bail has been released. It’s unclear whether he’s still in police custody.

It isn’t the first time that Carter has had legal problems. In 2002 he was arrested following an incident in a nightclub, and in 2005 on a DUI charge, but neither led to any convictions. In 2009, he revealed on the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ that he had battled issues with drug and alcohol abuse and that he had cleaned his life up with the support of fellow band member Kevin Richardson.

The star’s arrest comes two months after he and his wife Lauren Kitt announced that they were expecting their first child. Carter announced to E! News at the time: “My wife and I are happy to personally announce that we are pregnant. It has been our dream to have a family together and we cannot wait to welcome our first child into the world.”
