Australian rocker Nick Cave is selling his $700,000 (GBP385,000) London home, a houseboat on the River Thames.

The 47-year-old has lived on The Encantada - moored in the capital's exclusive Chelsea - for three years, but is expected to exchange contracts with an un-named woman today (11NOV04).

The boat boasts just two bedrooms and two bathrooms and an open-plan living area, on two storeys.

The new owner's neighbours will include artist Damien Hirst and SIR BOB GELDOF's partner Jeanne Marine, who has a retreat nearby.

Local resident, photography DAVID LOFTUS, says, "The houseboat was bound to go quickly because it is so nice.

"There is a close community here, it's a bit like a village. It's getting a bit pop-starry though. Roger Taylor from Queen was looking around one here, too."
