Arthur Cave, 15, died on 14 July (15) after falling 60 feet (18.3 metres) and suffering a series of traumatic injuries, including skull fractures, brain haemorrhaging and two broken legs.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.

Nick Cave and his wife Susie Bick attended an inquest into their son's death at Woodvale Crematorium in Brighton, England on Tuesday (10Nov15), but left the room briefly when details of Arthur's injuries were read out.

During the hearing, it emerged that Arthur had taken drugs shortly before his fall.

Evidence presented to the inquest suggested the youngster ingested a banned substance, believed to be LSD, with a friend, but they became separated while they were walking home as they were both suffering from hallucinations.

Arthur was later found at the bottom of the cliff by passers-by who attempted to resuscitate him.

The cause of death was given as "multiple traumatic injuries due to a fall from a height" and Coroner Veronica Hamilton-Deeley recorded a verdict of accidental death.
