The Hero - Trailer and Clips

Lee Hayden (Sam Elliott) is a former Western actor who, in his advancing years, no longer gets offered any work - apart from the odd commercial voiceover. He is, however, being offered a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Western Appreciation Guild in honour of his work, but it's little comfort when he's only ever done one movie he's actually proud of. Nowadays he spends his days smoking pot with his old co-star Jeremy (Nick Offerman), but his floundering career is not the only thing he has to contend with; he has been diagnosed with cancer. Plus, his relationship with his estranged daughter Lucy (Krysten Ritter) is looking irreparable. However, when he meets a young comedian named Charlotte (Laura Prepon), he finds himself with a new lease of life - something that only improves when his award acceptance speech incites a flurry of new job offers.

The Founder Review

Excellent

This is the story of Ray Kroc, the man who created the concept of McDonald's. And the most remarkable thing about this film is that it's not a feature-length advertisement for the fast-food outlet. Instead, it's a strikingly balanced, warts-and-all exploration of one man who pioneered a whole new way of making a fortune, even if it meant crushing some innocent people along the way. Which of course makes the film both entertaining and involving.

Michael Keaton delivers a storming performance as Ray, who we meet as a travelling salesman in the American Midwest in 1954. Unable to get anyone to understand his theory about simplified menus and faster service, he follows a lead out west to Southern California, where brothers Dick and Mac McDonald (Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch) have done just that. He buys into their concept and begins opening franchises back in the Midwest, and his network rapidly expands. But a business partner (BJ Novak) shows him that he'll need to push the brothers aside if he wants to make some proper money.

Director John Lee Hancock keeps the film's tone light and the pace brisk, never bogging down in the darker edges of the story. But he never shies away from them either, which adds a blackly comical tone to Keaton's full-on performance as a man who will do whatever it takes to make a profit. As a result, the audience is able to sympathise with Ray even though he's increasingly unlikeable, a charming monster who shamelessly borrows ideas from everyone he meets. This makes his relationships with his fragile first wife (Laura Dern) and his more aggressive second wife (Linda Cardellini) fascinating, even if neither woman is very well defined.

Very Good

The quality of the animation in this musical comedy may not be up to Pixar standards, but the story and characters are thoroughly endearing. And the music is fabulous. As it follows a group of likeable animals through a variety of plots and adventures, there's plenty for everyone in the audience to connect with. So even if the climactic action mayhem gets a bit ridiculous, the movie keeps us laughing. And it also makes us want to get up on that stage and belt out a few numbers.

It's set in a city populated by animals. Buster (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) is a koala who has been obsessed with musical theatre since he saw the diva Nana (Jennifer Hudson then Jennifer Saunders) perform when he was a child. So he grew up and bought the theatre. Now with audiences waning, he stages a musical competition to save the theatre. In the auditions, he selects his finalists: anarchist porcupine Ash (Scarlett Johansson), jazzy mafioso mouse Mike (Seth MacFarlane) and silky voiced gorilla Johnny (Taron Egerton). He also teams up two pigs as a double-act: frazzled housewife Rosita (Reese Witherspoon) and German dancer Gunter (Nick Kroll). There's also golden-voiced elephant Meena (Tori Kelly), who's too shy to face the audience so takes a role backstage. Of course, nothing goes as planned.

The key conflict comes from Buster's frantic efforts to avoid bankruptcy, plus rather half-hearted action subplots involving a gang of bears and Johnny's criminally minded relatives. These generate quite a bit of tension that erupts into rather outrageously destructive slapstick along the way. More interesting are the personal journeys of the various contestants, especially as Ash, Meena and Johnny all discover their voices and Rosita finds inventive ways to balance her long-lost career with her role as a mother to 25 rambunctious piglets. Yes, the film is rather crowded with characters and storylines, and the animation looks plasticky, but everything comes together cleverly,

So Yeah, There's A LEGO Movie. And Here's The Trailer.

Chris Pratt Will Ferrell Elizabeth Banks Liam Neeson Will Arnett Morgan Freeman Nick Offerman

Warner Brothers have released the first trailer for The LEGO Movie, set to hit theaters on February 7, 2014. The original 3D computer animated story follows the story of Emmet, a clean-cut LEGO mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as being the key to saving the world. Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt) is drafted into a fellowship of strangers to stop an evil tyrant President Business (Will Ferrell) and his henchman Bad Cop (Liam Neeson) from achieving world domination. Does this have anti-capitalist undertones!?

Of course, Emmet is hilariously underprepared for such an adventure and calls upon his fellow travellers Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), an old mystic (Elizabeth Banks) Batman (Will Arnett), and a swaggering pirate (Nick Offerman) for help.

It all looks pretty good fun and kids and families should have a whale of a time with this one. Warner executives are probably seeing dollars signs, and plenty of them.

'The Kings Of Summer' Brilliantly Entertaining Red Band Trailer Now Here [Trailer]

Nick Robinson Nick Offerman Gabriel Basso Moises Arias Jordan Vogt-Roberts

Jordan Vogt-Roberts' new coming-of-age comedy drama 'The Kings of Summer' is set to make its cinematic debut imminently after an exceptional reception at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

In celebration of its nearing release date, a brand new red band trailer has hit the web with snapshots of some of the movie's most hilarious moments. After some tit-for-tat verbal humiliation between Joe Toy (Nick Robinson) and his father Frank (Nick Offerman), with the pair of them failing completely to understand each other and their predicaments, Joe decides to make his own way in life and runs away with his best friend Patrick Keenan (Gabriel Basso), who is having an equally tough time with his overbearing folks, and a strange boy they just met called Biaggio (Moises Arias). They plan out their new house which they will build entirely from scratch and have much fun finding their own entertainment (such as the tribal dance/ pipe-banging scene that featured in the initial teaser trailer). Unfortunately, being impulsive teenage boys, they didn't quite comprehend just how much they'd have to contend with and even the simplest thing of general wildlife becomes a terrifying obstacle.

'The Kings of Summer' is due out in selected US cities on May 31st 2013. With a hilarious cast talented in sarcasm and a myriad of teenage antics invoking nostalgia in everyone, it's sure to be one of the most memorable independent films of the summer and a true triumph to Chris Galletta as his screenplay debut.

The Men Who Stare At Goats Review

Excellent
Based on true events as recounted in the Jon Ronson book, this freewheeling war comedy is deeply entertaining due to the crazy-but-believable premise and wonderfully outrageous characters.

Bob (McGregor) is a Michigan journalist desperate to prove himself, so he heads to Kuwait, hoping to find a story in Iraq. He meets the enigmatic Lyn Cassady (Clooney), whose story is so surreal that he can't help but follow him into the hot zone. Lyn is a member of the New Earth Army, a secret platoon formed in the 1980s by a hippie (Bridges) to create soldiers with Jedi mind powers. But their work went wrong when a jealous teammate (Spacey) dragged them into the dark side.

Treasure Island (1999) Review

Excellent
It's very refreshing, in today's overexposed and anti-climatic realm of moviemaking, that art still can exist in a medium such as film. It is very refreshing to know that there are still individuals on the fringes, trying their damnedest to re-invent the wheel of cinema. Treasure Island is one of those successful ventures of creating an art film for the sake of taking everything learned about filmmaking, piling it up, and lighting the whole mess on fire.

The story takes place during the second World War in San Francisco. Two intelligence officers are assigned to the duty of creating a false life for a dead man - including family letters, tickets to shows, and love letters from kindred souls - and planting him in Japanese territory to confuse the Japanese military of pending Allied military operations. Naturally, the two officers infuse their own personal letters, hatreds, and family situations into the creation of the life of the dead man. The only problem is that these two officers are the two most messed-up individuals I have seen since Hopper in Blue Velvet.

Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous Review

Unbearable

Sandra Bullock isn't doing her underappreciated talentany favors by appearing in "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous,"a relentlessly dim-witted sequel to her 2000 hit about a tomboy FBI agentgoing undercover at a beauty pageant.

The first "MissCongeniality" was itself so hackneyed thatthe actress's Lucille-Ball-like gift for guffaws was just about its onlysaving grace, and the same fate befalls her here. Bullock's delivery ofa few choice one-liners is the sole source of laughs in this clunker, andit's amazing to see her pull them off when her character has, without explanation, turned into a vapid, shallow, egocentric Barbie doll nitwit after becomingan implausible spokesmodel for the FBI.

It seems after her exposure at the Miss United States beautypageant in the first picture, the bureau decided she could best serve hercountry by being tarted up literally in satin and bows, and paraded aroundon a waving-and-smiling publicity tour of talk shows and personal appearances.
