You might not like Nickelback's music, or Avril Lavigne's for that matter, but you still can't deny that her appearance with her ex-husband on stage in Los Angeles at the weekend was nothing short of adorable. We love it when ex-couples can remain good friends.

It's been two years since 32-year-old Avril and 42-year-old Chad separated after just two years of marriage, but their situation is clearly still amicable judging by the fact that the band invited her on stage with them for a rendition of 'Rockstar' at the Greek Theatre in LA.

Nickelback see themselves as a ''guilty pleasure''.

Frontman Chad Kroeger says the band isn't a ''cool indie'' one like Arcade Fire but thinks they still have a place in the music industry.

He told Canada's CBC Radio: ''We're not a cool indie band, we're not Arcade Fire. They're critics' darlings. You're supposed to like those bands because they're hip, they're indie and cool. You're supposed to like them as a critic. I don't think you're supposed to like us.

The latest studio album from Nickelback is due out this week entitled 'Feed The Machine', with a new video for their single 'Song On Fire' also released ahead of a series of North American summer tour dates. The album comes three years after their previous record.

'Feed The Machine' is Nickelback's ninth studio album. Co-produced by Chris Baseford, it follows 2014's 'No Fixed Address' which became their first album in sixteen years not to top the Canadian charts, but instead peaked at number two. The band have also just dropped a new video for their song 'Song On Fire' - the second single from the album.

Despite announcing their break-up only last month, former married couple Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are apparently back in the studio together working on new music.

E! Online reported on that, although they had gone their separate ways in September, the pair were writing together and working in the studio again. Over the weekend Lavigne, 31, posted a picture on herself on Instagram wearing a cowboy hot and playing an acoustic guitar, with the caption: “YeeHaw! Writing with Chad today.”

Canadian rockers Nickelback have cancelled the remainder of their latest North American tour, in order for lead singer Chad Kroeger to undergo a vital throat operation.

The band, most famous for its 2001 hit ‘How You Remind Me’, was forced to duck out of the remaining dates of its ‘No Fixed Address’ tour of Canada and the US, because Kroeger needs to have surgery on an operable cyst on his voice box.

Hello, this is your resident One Direction correspondent speaking. Four is number one in the US, repeat number one in the US. This is not a drill, people.

Everything is One Direction and nothing hurts.

While we should all be at least a little bit saddened by the fact that Taylor Swift’s masterpiece of a pop album, 1989, has been knocked off the top, the 387,000 copies of Four sold this week are a clear indicator of one thing. Unlike countless other boybands, One Direction have a formula that works long term. Or long-er term than your standard N*SYNC or Backstreet Boys anyway.

Nickelback really are just one of those bands that people don’t like. Obviously the Canadian rockers have their fans, but on a whole we seem to hear a lot more hate than love for Chad Kroeger and the boys. But one Nickelback hater has taken matters into his own hands, setting up a Kickstarter campaign to stop the band from playing in London again.

Inspired by the successful run of Foo Fighters campaigns, where fans raised funds to bring the band to their town, Craig Mandell set up the campaign to try and ensure that Nickelback were never seen in London again.

Nickelback frontman CHAD KROEGER has dropped his appeal against his drink-driving conviction.The singer was sentenced to a one-year driving ban and a $600 (£400) fine after he was arrested in June 2006 in British Columbia, Canada for speeding in his Lamborghini.
He was acquitted of an impaired driving charge, but convicted on of driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit.
His lawyer Marvin Stern previously planned to appeal, arguing police violated Kroeger's rights when an officer asked him to blow onto his face after detecting the smell of alcohol.
But after a similar case was recently abandoned by the B.C. Appeal Court, Stern announced the rocker would drop the appeal.
Stern says, "Just like anybody else, his rights are protected by the Charter and at the time of the trial we felt that his rights had been violated. The state of the law has now changed and we respect the current state of the law and are bound by it, and in law there's no ground of appeal left."
In Kroeger's case, Judge Peter Gulbrandsen called the practice of blowing in the face unconstitutional, but ruled the evidence acceptable as it was obtained legally.

Nickelback frontman CHAD KROEGER has dreamed he'll die onstage on his 40th birthday. The How You Remind Me singer, 33, believes he'll suffer a heart attack mid-concert in front of his devoted fans. He tells Playboy magazine, "I will die on my 40th birthday. I dreamed it - I'll be onstage and have a heart attack. The crowd will think it's part of the show, and that will be the end. "It's probably why I live every day like I'm dying. There you go. It's been foretold. I will be dead on my 40th birthday."
