Nicki Minaj and her relationship with fellow rapper Iggy Azalea are the subject of speculation today after it emerged that Nicki made some offhand, and rather pointed remarks at last night's BET Awards. The 'Superbass' singer picked up the Best Female Hip Hop award at the event but seemed to detonate a pretty heavy diss during her acceptance speech.

The self-aggrandising rap singer wanted to set a few things straight during her speech and sai "What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it." Immediately, the room took Nicki's words as venom against Iggy Azalea, who is rumoured to use ghost writers.

As everyone laughed and looked shocked, Nicki immediately tried to retract what she said, "No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade." However, like it or not, the diss had been made.

Minaj seems to have been referring to the controversy over Iggy's talent; she's listed as a co-writer on her hit single and on Ariana Grande's 'Problem,' but not on other songs 'Fancy' and 'Change Your Life.'

When Iggy performed 'Fancy' during the show, Nicki was spotted dancing in a rather sarcastic manner, which has been immortalised in a Vine, courtesy of Consequence of Sound. During the same speech, Nicki also made some confusing remarks about having had a recent near-death experience.

"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die," she said. "Like, I was saying my prayers to die. And I didn't even want to call the ambulance because I thought, 'Well if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ.'

"I would rather sit there and die. And it made me realise I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me." Strangely, she didn't elaborate on how she almost died but seeing as she decided to tell the world anyway, not calling for help seems kinda pointless.
