Can you imagine Nicki Minaj leading your next school assembly? Well for students at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School in New York, it could have happened. That’s if the rapper’s wasn’t turned away at the door when she arrived on Thursday (September 11th).

Nicki MinajDid Nicki's old high school just want none of the 'Anaconda' singer?

Yes it seems Nicki’s old high school didn't exactly give their famous alumni the warm welcome she was expecting when she came back for a visit. The singer had hoped she could speak to current students at the performing arts school, but claims the principal turned her away.

Writing on Twitter the 31 year old said, “I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined. No need for me to inspire them, I guess.” When asked if any reason was given Minaj replied “not really”, before adding “I guess Im not good enough.” The singer then explained her intentions writing, “That school changed my life and I wanted to pay it forward to the students there now. I was really looking forward to it.”

Nicki then retweeted some of her 18.1million Twitter followers who had voiced their support for the singer after her old school's apparent refusal. “How could the principal pass up such an amazing opportunity, just baffles me” wrote one user, while another tweeted, “I'm still in disbelief that the principal declined her visitation to motivate. Does she not know how much Nicki impacts this generation?”

But it seems there's a little more to the story the the 'Anaconda' singer originally let on. It has since been reported that the real reason Minaj was turned away was because she planned to bring along a camera crew.

A spokesperson for The Department of Education told GossipCop, "Of course alumni are welcome back to our campuses and we love to celebrate their success, providing it does not interrupt the educational process. Alumni visit all the time and address students." the spokesperson said. Adding, "However, we do not allow reality TV to be filmed on school property. For documentaries, any visit to a public school must be educational in nature and cannot intrude on instruction.” Minaj is yet to comment further on the incident.

Nicknamed the 'FAME' school, Nicki isn't the only famous graduate from Fiorello H. LaGuardia. Other famous alumni include Jennifer Aniston, Ellen Barkin, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kelis and Liza Minnelli.
