Nicki Minaj responded to lyrics in her ex Safaree Samuel’s latest single via Twitter. Minaj and Samuels were in a relationship for more than 12 years and the lyrics reportedly allude to aspects of their relationship which are best kept private.
There’s nothing quite like airing your dirty laundry in public, or so Nicki Minaj would have everyone believe. Minaj took to Twitter to express her irritation at her ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels after he criticised her in his new single ‘Love The Most’.
Nicki Minaj wasn't happy with some of Safaree Samuels' 'Love The Most' lyrics.
In the song, Samuels detailed alleged cheating, feeling ignored and never having a child with Minaj. Some of his lyrics include: “We both went to sleep in the same ’Bed of Lies/thought you would’ve had my kid/Yeah I know I’m not perfect, you was paying all the bills/ You remember what you told me when you wasn’t on them pills?”
32-year-old Minaj and Samuels dated for 12 years but they confirmed their separation in late 2014. Although they kept the details of their relationship private throughout its duration, details have been coming to light as both use their music to express their feelings.
Minaj wrote a series of tweets on Wednesday (9th June) in which she responded to Samuels’ lyrics and further made allegations about his role in their separation. Minaj alleged Samuels had cheated on her and that they had been supportive of each other, despite his claims he was the invisible partner in their relationship.
“Lesson: don’t cheat on a loyal woman. God will punish u. When he does, tell people the truth. The truth may set u free. Love. Always… Took a person with me to fame & fortune. These dudes leave their girl in the hood. Tell ppl the truth or you will b doomed,” Minaj wrote on Twitter.
However, Minaj wasn’t letting Samuels spoil her mood as the singer ended her Twitter rant on a high note. Minaj is engaged to rapper Meek Mill and she referred to this.
“I’m happy today not b/c of meek. But b/c i know Im a good person. Don’t hate u. Will always love u. I forgive u. It’s time to move on,” Minaj initially tweeted, as MTV reports.
“Just for the record, I'm in love with meek,” Minaj added.
