Forbes, who did the maths and put everything into a handy list for everyone to peruse, bestowed the unwanted gong upon Hollywood's so called funnyman. But don’t worry there’s no awards ceremony for an achievement like this, just sarcastic news stories, a few memes and a big bag of Cheese Puffs for the list's #1.

So let’s look at some numbers: his last three films returned an average of $3.40 for every $1 he was paid. Last year, Natalie Portman earned $42.70 per dollar according to Forbes' most profitable actors list, just to give you some context.

Miley Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball' was always ripe for memes. It was almost too perfect for memes. Hannah Montana swinging naked on a demolition ball, crying her eyes out and licking a hammer? Pass the video editing software. 

Anyway, someone went ahead and got to work on the new video, cutting and sticking poor old Nicolas Cage into the damn thing. Though the internet has given the creator of the gif a massive digital slap on the back, nobody really gets the Cage/Cyrus mash-up, though, perhaps we don't need to. 

The meme first appeared on Buzzfeed, with the website dubbing it "terrifying." It's certainly pretty unsettling seeing Nicolas' Cage's head on Miley Cyrus's naked body.

Nicolas Cage is back flirting with the big acting awards following his most recent performance in the film Joe. In Joe, Cage plays a role not too dissimilar to his 1995 Oscar-winning performance as Ben Sanderson in Leaving Las Vegas, only this time Nic has taken a completely different approach to his method of acting, an approach that some critics claim has paid off in a big way.

Gravity opened the 70th Venice Film Festival yesterday (28th August). The film's two actors, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, were there on the red carpet to see their efforts at the prestigious festival.

Sandra Bullock plays a medical engineer sent into space with astronaut veteran George Clooney. With little experience in space, the engineer, Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock), is reliant on Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). From the trailer and IMDB description, Bullock is reliant on Clooney when they are caught in debris and forced to survive in space. Amazingly the drama unfolds with just two actors supported by the occasional NASA voice.

Sylvester Stallone announced via Twitter that Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford would feature in Expendables 3. The Rocky actor criticised Bruce Willis, describing him as "lazy" and "greedy" following his decision to leave the film franchise.

Willis appeared in the first two Expendables films. The films are notable for casting classic 'tough guy' actors including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris.

Upcoming crime thriller The Frozen Ground is based on true events that culminated in a horrific serial killer being jailed to 461 years in prison in 1984 after the murder of 17 women. An adaptation of a chilling real-life story, the film starts with prostitute Cindy (Vanessa Hudgens) who narrowly escapes the clutches of serial killer and sexual predator Robert Hansen (John Cusack) but her story is disbelieved by the authorities. It is only when State Trooper Jack Halcombe (Nicolas Cage) becomes involved in the investigation that Cindy's account is investigated and Hansen is tracked down.

The Telegraph's Tim Robey disparages the film as unentertaining whilst badly and confusingly constructed yet does admit that former Disney teen princess Hudgens makes a "solid contribution" to the narrative, saying "she's tough and committed in ways that often come to the rescue." Cusack's killer is painted as a 2D villain, serving up "a listless banality-of-evil cipher instead of a character." The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw rates the film a little higher however, choosing to praise all three lead actor's performances as "solid" and Digital Spy attests - Cage's performance is "subtly" intense whilst the script is described as "smartly written." However, DS does admit that The Frozen Ground "misses the mark" with unconvincing roles from Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Radha Mitchell, playing Cindy's pimp and Halcombe's wife respectively.

After being rumoured to be joining the Expendables 3 cast, Knowing actor Nicolas Cage has shot down such murmurings in an interview with Den of Geek putting it plainly that he'd had no involvement so far: "I have not had any formal discussions about that movie," he said referring to Expendables. "I'm not in Kick-Ass 2 and I don't think I'm in Expendables 3. And I like those guys, but I would say it would be highly unlikely that I'd be in that movie," he added, destroying another fervent internet rumour while he was at it.

Dwayne Johnson and Vinnie Jones are two fellow actors who've also been rumoured to be starring in the mega-action blockbuster, set for release in August 2014. Cage's denial follows Sylvester Stallone's claim that he had "no knowledge" of a potential Cage addition back in November 2012.

Lauryn Hill, the Grammy-winners singer whose only solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill remains a classic of its generation, has begun a three month prison term for failing to pay taxes of around $1 million between the years 2005 and 2007, reports the Independent. 

The singer-songwriter will serve her time at a minimum security prison in Danbury, Connecticut where inmates live in dormitories and are expected to perform maintenance, landscape and serve food. Essentially, it's not really a prison.

The singer, who gained fame with The Fugees, always maintained that she was planning on paying the taxes but was unable when he dropped out of the music business. Before her sentencing, her lawyer said Lauryn had paid more than $970,000 of the owed cash.

It's shaping up to be a pretty hectic 18 months or so for Sylvester Stallone, who will star in two big-budget movies for Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, Escape Plan and The Expendables 3. The former stars Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger as prison cellmates who work together to escape. The Great Escape, essentially.

The movie, directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Hafstrom, is written by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It will go up against Joseph Gordon-Lecitt's directorial debut Don Jon and fantasy movie Seventh Son on October 18, 2013. The Expendables action adventure franchise continues on August 15, 2014 with the third movie, once again starring Stallone as Barney Ross, who leads his group of mercenaries into another seemingly impossible mission. Martial arts legend Jackie Chan and Oscar winner Nicolas Cage are set to be appear in the movie, which will undoubtedly continue to the huge success of the franchise. As yet, the other major studios have not announced any movies for release on the same date.

The Expendables 2, starring Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris and Terry Crews, opened on August 16, 2012 to takings of $28.6 million. The movie has since earned $300 million worldwide.

A 1939 Jay-Z look-alike photograph has emerged depicting someone who looks incredibly like the hip-hop icon leaning on a railing in New York while staring directly at the camera. The resemblance is uncanny - in fact, it basically is Jay-Z, which has left many fans suspicious of the photograph's provenance.

It was posted by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on the New York Public Library's Facebook page this week, with curators noticing the 1939 photograph of a man in Harlem after rooting through boxes of old photographers. The black-and-white snap, taken by a man named Sid Grossman, also features another man who looks ridiculously like Kanye West. 

Only joking.

"Do you know who I am?" It's the quote that has left celebrities cringing and police officers grinning with delight over the years. Reese Witherspoon is the latest Hollywood A-lister to use the immortal phrase (almost) before her arrest for DUI in Atlanta early on Friday morning (April 19, 2013). Cops told TMZ.com that  they spotted Reese and husband Jim Toth's car, a silver Ford Fusion, weaving in and out of lanes, pulling them over shortly afterwards.

Much to the delight of the arresting officer, and the millions reading gossip blogs in the subsequent days, Reese pulled out the celebrity card. As officers dealt with Jim, Witherspoon asked one cop, "Do you know my name?" The officer answered by saying, "No, I don't need to know your name." The Oscar-winner came back with, "You're about to find out who I am. You are going to be on national news." Of course, it was Reese that ended up on the news, having been arrested and told to attend a court hearing in Atlanta on May 22, 2013.

The actress released a statement apologizing for her behaviour. "Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said," she said, adding, "It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behaviour."

This week's big global release is the DreamWorks animated prehistoric comedy-adventure The Croods, led by an all-star vocal cast including Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds. Look for a huge push for must-have spin-off merchandise for this one, as it's packed with cuddly creatures. And hope it does well at the box office, because it would make a great franchise too.

Doing the publicity rounds this week, Gerard Butler has been out promoting his new White House thriller Olympus Has Fallen. Flitting between New York and Los Angeles to appear on every chat show possible, it's no wonder that he was somewhat fed-up by the time he reached David Letterman's Manhattan studio. Of course, the paparazzi caught it on camera as he lost his patience with a fan trying to get multiple autographs. But he manages to recovers his usual charm.

We here at Contactmusic.com really hope there's a massive upset at the Oscars on Sunday (February 24, 2013), for no other reason than it's fun to watch the actor who should have won sink into their chair and try and look happy for the surprise recipient, who is dancing in the aisle somewhere. Sometimes, you can pin-point the exact moment when the realisation of absolute failure kicks in. "I lost. I actually lost. I didn't win. Someone else won. I didn't win. I do not need to stand up."

Ok, so it looks unlikely that the 85th Academy Awards will throw up TOO many huge shocks, though should Daniel Day-Lewis miss out on Best Actor, that would certainly represent one of the biggest surprises in Oscar history. Then again, Tom Hanks was nailed on for Saving Private Ryan, and looked what happened there. We thought we'd take a look back at five unbelievable results at the Academy Awards, proving it's not always a done deal.

Last night, the Contact Music gang settled in for a night of Sunday night viewing. After many arguments, we finally decided upon National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. This got us thinking: what is the worst film to dominate the box office charts?

Die Hard – A Good Day To Die Hard is certainly up there. The 5th Die Hard film managed to top the box office this weekend, beating out some admittedly pathetic competition, taking $25m in the process. With a hugely embarrassing 16% score from collected reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it surely has to be the worst film to prosper in ticket sales.

It's that time of year again! The nominations for this year's Razzies have been announced, with Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - which made a ridiculous $814 million at the box office - leading the way with 11 nominations, including Worst Film and Worst Sequel. A spoof of the Academy Awards, this year's Razzies' picks arrived just one day before Thursday's Oscar nominations. So which directors, actors and actresses will have let out a giant, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" when catching wind of the infamous nominations today? And perhaps more importantly, who should win (or lose). Which movies and performances really were the worst of the worst? Here goes.
