Nicole Richie is to release a new affordable fashion collection with QVC.

The designer has teamed up with the home shopping channel for The Nicole Richie Collection - which will debut on the channel's 'The Buzz From the Red Carpet - Live From LA' show on February 24 - which will range in price from $75 to $257 and includes a maxidress, printed kimono jacket and leather bag, with more shirts, dresses and skirts to follow,

Nicole said: "QVC is a well-oiled machine and to be in business with them is so exciting because it gives me an opportunity to design for a much broader range of women.

"I wanted you to be able to walk into your closet with your eyes closed and pick something special."

The crinkled maxidress is similar to one Nicole created for her Winter Kate collection and she says it was particularly "important" to her to create a version for QVC because it is so verstaile.

She told WWD: "It was important for me to do a version for QVC because it can be worn so many ways. I paid close attention to the seams to give a woman a nice shape, because a lot of maxidresses can feel tent-y."

As well as the show in February, Nicole - who has children Harlow, four, and two-year-old Sparrow with husband Joel Madden - will appear in a one-hour programme in September, and make other appearances on the channel in November and December, which she thinks is a good way to reach out to her potential customers.

She said: "I want to connect with the women watching by letting them know that we are similar in many ways; I'm a mother of two and I work. We all want to feel relaxed on the inside but stylish on the outside. And that's what I'm trying to provide."
