Nicole Scherzinger could be about to return to the world of TV talent shows, as the former ‘X-Factor’ judge has been named as the latest frontrunner to replace Rita Ora on 'The Voice’. Ora left the BBC talent show last month after serving just one season on the judging panel, opting to jump ship to rival ITV series ‘The X-Factor’.

According to The Sun, Nicole is heading to the UK this week to meet with producers of the show at BBC headquaters. “Nicole is meeting with some of the top producers on 'The Voice' this week to discuss the prospect of her replacing Rita,” a source told the newspaper:

“Will.I.Am, who is our most popular coach, is very close friends with Nicole and has been lobbying hard for her to join the panel. Andrew Lloyd Webber has also sung her praises because of her talent and passion for mentoring young acts.”

The insider was also keen to point out that Nicole’s 2012-2013 stint on the ‘X-Factor’ wouldn’t be an issue to BBC bosses. “Nicole is very experienced and popular,” they continued. “Her team believe she's distanced herself from 'X-Factor' enough while she's concentrated on her solo music career to be able to join another show. She definitely wants to do it.’

“We’re not planning to make a formal decision until the end of summer but this will very much make Nicole a front runner,” the insider added. So far the BBC is yet to comment on who may replace Ora on ‘The Voice’s’ panel. Last week Mercury Prize nominated singer FKA Twigs was said to be in the running to take the vacant chair, but before that the eccentric Paloma Faith was considered the frontrunner.
