The Zookeeper's Wife Trailer

Jan Zabinski was a dedicated zoo keeper, he worked at Poland zoo where he not only spent his days, he also lived within the walls of the zoo with his wife, Antonina, and their young son. Not only is their home where they live, it also acts as the nursery for any young or sick animals; the lives of all the family are immersed with the animals that they're surrounded by.

At the start of September in 1939 the lives of the Zabinski's changed considerably with the start of World War II. The zoo and the majority of its livestock were destroyed and what the Zabinski's were dealing with was only the tip of the chaos going on in their country. As Poland fell under German control, the Nazi army heavily patrolled Warsaw and the trooped began rounding up Jewish citizens and shipping them off to work houses. Antonina's humanistic mentality was to do whatever she could to help the people who were being rounded up against their will and she suggested to her husband that they begin hiding people in the abandoned areas of the zoo.

The Zabinski's smuggled in Jews attempting to escape the potential horror that awaited them; People were hidden in trucks transporting scraps for the animals and even though Antonina was under constant watch of Nazi officers and knowing that she'd be killed for conspiring, she acted as the protector for huge amounts of people fleeing the city.

McFarland USA Trailer

In 1987, Jim White (Kevin Costner) moved to McFarland in the San Joaquin Valley, Kern County, California, and what he found there shocked him. The city appeared to be a predominately Latino ghetto of sorts, where the children chose not to follow his instructions in class and caused him no end of grief. That was, until White noticed the exceptional running skills of the children in his class. With no cross-country team in the city and no one qualified to coach it, White assembled seven of the best runners and pushed them to take a chance and become great.

Good
Just because a female director sets out to make a female empowerment film doesn't mean it can't be charming while rousing the troops. Writer-director Niki Caro presents this story of a Maori girl in New Zealand whose ancestor, according to tribal legend, came from a faraway place, riding on the back of a whale. It's a film of reality and fantasy, treating farfetched dreams and mysticism with acceptance, respecting the tribe's dignity and beliefs.

Koro (Rawiri Paratene) is the Chief of the Ngati Kanohi tribe of Whangara which resides in a coastal fishing village. His thought is that his firstborn son, Porourangi (Cliff Curtis), will succeed him as chief. When it's clear that Porourangi has no interest in filling Koro's leadership shoes, Koro looks to his son's children. But tragedy takes over when Porourangi's wife dies in childbirth along with a twin boy, sending Porourangi to seek solace for his loss elsewhere. He leaves daughter Pai (Keisha Castle-Hughes, in her film debut), the surviving girl twin, in the care of Koro. "The girl is no use to me", Koro blusters, disappointed that as a girl, she's not a candidate for tribal leadership.
