"This really was a blast today. I truly used to like busking. I made a decent living and some lifelong friends," Rodgers wrote on social media, adding that he started out his career when he was young and homeless by busking.

"Today I went busking on the #London Southbank. Didn't draw much of a crowd until I stared playing dance music. Hmm?"

"Though I had no voice from screaming during last night's show, I started to draw a crowd when I sang "Aw Freak Out!" he added.

"Busking was my only means for a while. It's a very honorable way to make a living and  hone your skills."

Rodgers and Chic are to headline the Turnaround Summer Gala on July 8, a concert in aid of the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint, celebrating everything that homeless young people can achieve given the opportunity and the right support.

The inaugural event held at London's 8 Northumberland Avenue will also feature performances by Rebecca Fergusson, Dirty Vegas and Britain's Got Talent winners Collabro.

Chic are to release their first album in more than 20 years, called It's About Time. The lead single from the record, I'll Be There, was released on March 20th.
