The MC was reportedly leaving a recording studio late on Wednesday when his car was pulled over by Burbank police on suspicion of traffic violations, and officers discovered Hussle, real name Ermias Asghedom, had an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended licence.

The cops then searched his car and found a bottle of codeine without a prescription label, as well as a bottle of soda and cups full of ice, which are ingredients for the highly potent "sizzurp" cocktail.

Lieutenant Adam Cornils tells the L.A. Times, "People who abuse codeine to get high commonly acquire it either from friends/associates or through fraudulent prescriptions, and remove the prescription label to mask where it came from and who it was prescribed to."

Hussle was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, as well as for the outstanding warrant.

He was later released after posting $1,000 (£625) bail.
