'Smells Like Teen Spirit' became an unexpected seminal hit when it was released on September 10th 1991 as the lead single from Nirvana's second album 'Nevermind'. Noted for its catchy hook and particularly unintelligible lyrics, this Platinum certified belter is without doubt Nirvana's biggest tune and is widely regarded as a kind of 'teen revolution anthem'. Now, 25 years later, it's still just as relevant and still dwarfs many other rock songs that have attempted to supercede it.

Police in Seattle have released photographs of the shotgun that Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain used to commit suicide more than twenty years ago.

In five images posted to the website of the Seattle Police Department, cold case detective Mike Ciesynski is shown holding the long 20-gauge shotgun at a number of different angles. The photos were taken back in June 2015 and placed on the department’s computer system on March 3rd this year, to be added to the investigative file.

The green cardigan worn by Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain during the band’s 1993 'MTV: Unplugged In New York' special has sold at an auction in California for $140,000. The iconic item of clothing sold for nearly twice the highest estimated price during the rock memorabilia-themed auction on November 7th.

Kurt Cobain’s iconic green cardigan has sold for $140,000.

The auction was held at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles and also featured memorabilia from Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson. The cardigan was initially expect to fetch between $60,000 and $80,000.

Brett Morgen, the director of the Kurt Cobain documentary movie Montage of Heck earlier this year, has revealed the artwork and tracklisting for the “new” album Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings, which is released next month.

The filmmaker also took the time to defend the project from the criticism that it’s received from some quarters in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Just like The Bootleg Series furthers your understanding of Bob Dylan's process, I find that Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings furthers not just our understanding of his process but represents yet another angle, another side of Kurt — an artistic outlet that he was not necessarily able to work within the context of a three-piece band.”

Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is married! The 23-year-old wed musician Isaiah Silva, her boyfriend of five years, in a top secret ceremony. The nuptials were so secret that not even Frances’ mother, Courtney Love was informed until after the ceremony was over.

An American teenager has unwittingly uncovered some never-before-seen photographs of Nirvana’s first ever gig and published them online, making her officially the coolest kid in the world right now.

19 year old Maggie Poukkula, from Seattle, Washington, found a photo strip dating from March 1987 in one of her father Tony’s books, and tweeted it to the delight of Nirvana fans worldwide. Her post contained the caption: “Pictures of my dad and Kurt Cobain playing together back in the day.”

A new album from late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain is coming this summer, according to Montage of Heck director Brett Morgen. Morgen, who was given unprecedented access to Cobain’s archives while making the documentary, has said he found over 200 hours of never heard before material and rare music in the singer’s collection.

“We’re going to be putting out an amazing album this summer that I think will answer that question,” Brett Morgen told Bedford + Bowery when asked if he found any new material in Cobain’s archives.

You can now stay in Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love's apartment for $150 per night. The apartment, in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles, is available to rent on Airbnb. The late Nirvana singer and Love lived in the apartment during the early 90s when the band and Cobain were at the height of their fame.

Though still hungry for music, songwriting and drawing, Cobain developed struggles with anger and rejection throughout his teenage years, setting him up for a success that would ultimately bring about his downfall. And while it seemed his astonishing success with grunge pioneers Nirvana in the 90s was a high point in his life, not to mention his relationship with Courtney Love and the birth of their daughter Frances, it only led to a tragic end.

The first image from the forthcoming official Kurt Cobain documentary 'Cobain: Montage of Heck' has finally been released, giving us a glimpse into one of the most highly anticipated music documentaries of late.

The movie has been executively produced by the Nirvana frontman's 22-year-old daughter Frances Bean and marks the very first authorized documentary on the grunge legend, who tragically took his own life at the peak of Nirvana fame in 1994. The first image is a haunting painting of the singer walking away from a blue, wooden panelled house surrounded by trees, as the dull, dark grey sky bears down on him.

The upcoming documentary about Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain on HBO is to be accompanied by book, which will explore in greater detail what the film covers.

'Montage of Heck', a documentary about Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, will be released in May

Both the film and book will be entitled ‘Montage of Heck’, a name taken from a mixtape that Cobain made and which was shared widely online last year. The tracklisting features clips from The Beatles, The Monkees, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, The Jackson Five and many more, which gave an insight into the widely divergent influences that made up Cobain’s songwriting.

HBO have announced they will be airing the first ever 'authorised' documentary on late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Entitled ‘Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck’, the film has been directed and produced by Brett Morgen, who previously followed The Rolling Stones for ‘Crossfire Hurricane’ in 2012.

Morgen is said to have been working on the project since 2007, with the cooperation of Cobain’s family. Frances Bean Cobain. the only daughter of the late singer, is serving as an exec producer on the documentary, while HBO has confirmed Courtney Love will not be involved.

As the animalistic drummer in Nirvana and the guitar-thrashing frontman in Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is one of the most well-known and prolific rockstars on the planet. Having survived the grunge era with one of the defining bands on the nineties and achieved equal commercial success in the Foos, Grohl has successfully secured a place in the pantheon of rock. He is, by all means, a true rock God with his screaming vocals and continual head banging. Courtney Love’s $27 million in expenses might seem like a rather shocking amount, but she isn’t too worried – or at all, really. In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, the “Hole” frontwoman made the startling confession that she had burned through millions of “Nirvana money” in a very short time, having spent most of it on s number of lawsuits through the years.  

Courtney Love's financial strategy is rather unorthodox to say the least.

Not one to worried, however, Love maintains her chill attitude about the whole thing: "I know that's a lifetime of money to most people, but I'm a big girl, it's rock 'n roll, it's Nirvana money, I had to let it go. I make enough to live on, I'm financially solvent, I focus on what I make now."

Crowd surfing and moshing are two activities that are part and parcel of punk shows worldwide, but it seems one security guard at the Montreal leg of this year’s Warped Tour didn’t get the memo. Footage has emerged of a security guard throwing a crowd member to the ground after apparently crowd surfing over the barrier. The incident took place during the song “Daughter” by the increasingly popular US pop-punk band The Story So Far, sparking a brief brawl in which the band’s frontman Parker Cannon leapt off the stage and exchanged a flurry of blows with the over-zealous security guard before being subdued by security staff.

After the situation was diffused, Parker returned to the stage to conclude the band’s set. Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman has launched an investigation into the incident and announced via Twitter that a tape of the melee has been sent to the security company involved for their consideration. But this is far from the first time security members have abused their powers on innocent concert-goers and such incidents continue to occur, even as professional security companies receive training for roles that were once held by trigger-happy amateur brutes and Hells Angel members. You’d think that twenty years on, the surprises and shocking twists around Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s relationships would be all but over. Not so, however. Last week, CBS reported on a note, found in Cobain’s pocket after his death, which seemed to reference his relationship with Love. The note apperared to be written by Cobain about his turbulent relationship with Love, but now, a biographer of the Nirvana frontman has said that the note was, in fact, written by Love herself.

Apparently the note found in Cobain's pocket was not written by him.

The note, initially said to be written by Cobain reads: "'Do you Kurt Cobain take Courtney Michelle Love to be your lawful shredded wife. Even when she’s a bitch with zits and siphoning all your money for doping and whoring.'"
