'Mighty Boosh' star Julian Barratt has said he and comedy partner Noel Fielding are currently working on a new project together. Barratt, who returns to TV later this month in Channel 4’s ‘Flowers’, said that the pair had stayed friends since The Boosh went on hiatus, but now they're back to writing together.

Julian Barratt and Noel FieldingJulian Barratt has said he’s working on new ideas with Noel Fielding.

Speaking to The Radio Times, Barratt said: “We’re talking about doing something else together now… something with a longer arc really.” The comedian then went on to explain why 'The Boosh' went on hiatus, following their 2009 arena tour.

"I had kids. We wanted to do other things on our own, so that’s what we’ve done. But you know, we’re always in contact. We do the odd gig here and there and music… quite a bit of music together and things. A lot of side projects and stuff along the way but we’re just doing our own thing.”

Barratt said another reason he wanted to work with Fielding again was because of the reaction he got when he showed his twin boys episodes of 'The Boosh'. "I decided to show them it. They were really enjoying it and I was enjoying it. And I was going, 'Yeah, this is really good.’”

“Well I knew it was good, but I sort of didn’t know why it was good, in a way. So I was talking to Noel about that," he continued. "I’d really like to do some more stuff with this. And there seems to be people wanting us to do that, so that’s what that was.”

“We always have good chemistry when we get back together. It’s like [Noel’s] a brother, basically. So you may have times when you fall out but he’s always there.” Barratt added that broadcasters are interested in the pair’s ideas, but wouldn't go into anymore details.

‘The Mighty Boosh’ ran for three series on the BBC, from 2003 to 2007. The show spawned two UK tours, which saw the duo play three nights at London’s O2 Arena in 2008. Since going on hiatus Fielding and Barratt have occasionally reunited for live performances, including an appearance at Jack Black’s Festival Supreme in 2013.
