‘The X Factor’ co-presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs have confirmed they’ve left the ITV talent show after days of rumours concerning their future. The duo, who previously presented spin-off series ‘The Xtra Factor’, took the reigns of the main show last year, following the departure of Dermot O’Leary.

Caroline Flack and Olly MursCaroline Flack and Olly Murs’ time on ‘The X Factor’ is over.

In a statement to The Sun Murs said: “This was an incredibly hard decision to make and one I didn’t take lightly as I’ve really enjoyed co-hosting ‘The X Factor’. It’s been one big adventure and I loved every minute of it. But my heart belongs to music and I want to concentrate 100 per cent on making my next album and getting back to performing.”

“Last November I was doing the show, promoting a new single and I felt increasingly like the music side of things had to be shoehorned into the TV schedule. Now that I’ve started working on my next album I couldn’t see myself having the time to do both.”

In a separate statement, Flack also confirmed her departure saying: "I have had a brilliant time working on ‘The X Factor’ over the last few years and hosting the main show was just fantastic - I made some amazing friends. I'm looking forward to carrying on working with the team over at ITV.”

The departure of Murs and Flack comes days after judge Nick Grimshaw confirmed his exit from the show after just one series. A spokesperson for the Radio One DJ told The Sun last week: “After careful consideration, Nick’s decided to rule himself out as a judge on this year’s X Factor.”

“He loved working on last year’s series alongside Rita, Cheryl and Simon but it was very much a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He remains a massive fan of the show and is looking forward to watching it this year.”

There’s no word yet one who will join the show for the new series later this year, but the favourites to replace Grimshaw are One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson or former judge Louis Walsh. As for who will host, fans have been begging Cowell to bring back former host Dermot O’Leary, while ‘Big Brother’s' Emma Willis and Rylan Clark are said to be among those up for consideration.
