One Direction have come to the end of the road - at last for now. Halloween night (October 31st 2015) saw them perform the last date of their On the Road Again Tour; their final show as they prepare to embark on their indefinite hiatus.

With the imminent release of their fifth studio album 'Made in the A.M.' on November 13th 2015, One Direction wrapped up their live performances at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena, where they played three consecutive concerts at the end of October. Supported by Jamie Lawson and Augustana, the tour was an almost year-long venture in support of their 2014 album 'Four'. It was a modest show for a final appearance; the band promised to return, while Liam Payne's dad started a Conga line during 'Act My Age'.

The band have certainly given their army of devoted fans fair warning about their decision to take a break. Single 'Drag Me Down' was released following the departure of Zayn Malik, and since then the band have been making plans to embark on solo careers in 2016.

It's not been as smooth a transition to solo life as it could've been. Liam Payne appeared to cripple under the pressure ahead of their show in Belfast, forcing the band to reschedule. And then there were rumours that he had split with his girlfriend after many months of touring, and subsequently got removed from a hotel after trashing the room. He was even reported to have been 'fighting' with Louis Tomlinson on stage in Manchester - though the truth behind that is yet to be confirmed.

One Direction have got one more challenge ahead of them, however, before they can say that they are officially on hold. New album 'Made in the A.M.' comes at the same time as Justin Bieber's 'Purpose', which means there's some serious competition among the biggest heartthrobs of pop.

With that in mind, it's no wonder these boys are in serious need of a breather.
