Oprah Winfrey Has Reportedly Been Cast To Play Comedy Legend Richard Pryor's 'Grandmother' In A New Biopic.
According to the New York Post, the media queen will portray the brothel madam Marie Carter in director Lee Daniels' new film, in which comic Mike Epps will play the tragic Pryor.
Carter brought the young Pryor up in a whorehouse, where her daughter and the comedian's mother both worked.
Eddie Murphy will portray the funnyman's dad, Leroy 'Buck Carter' Pryor and Kate Hudson is up for the role of Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Lee.
Filming will start in March (16), once Daniels wraps up the second season of his hit TV series Empire.
Epps has been attached to the lead for a decade - and was announced as the man to play Pryor when the funnyman was still alive, and Walter Hill was tapped to direct.
