Gucci Mane might have spilled the beans on the first new Outkast music in 10 years...
Fans of Atlanta-based hip-hop legends Outkast were sent into a frenzy today after rapper Gucci Mane mentioned that he had recorded music with the duo, teasing the possibility of the first new music from the band in a decade.
The 36 year old star Gucci Mane, who was released from prison in May this year and hails from Atlanta too, mentioned in a Snapchat on Tuesday (September 6th) “I just did a record for Outkast”… alongside with a whole host of other names including Lil Wayne.

Consensus: Outcast are still great.
Governors Ball is a notoriously difficult music fest for logistical reasons – remote location, frequently awful weather, etc. Still, crowds flock to the festival year after year – and looking at this year’s lineup, it isn’t hard to see why.
Janelle Monae joined Andre and Big Boi for a rousing rendition of Hey Ya.
The Black Keys, The Killers and Outkast are among this year's headliners at Hangout.
Alabama's sun-soaked, sold-out Hangout Music Fest begins officially today (May 16th 2014) following yesterday's kick-off party - and there's almost too much fun to take in.
Set against the glorious backdrop of Gulf Shores' pure white beaches, this festival truly is the place to 'hang out' this weekend with top headliners The Black Keys, The Killers, Outkast and Jack Johnson leading the talent-studded bill. Acts such as Jack Antonoff's latest project Bleachers, CLASSIXX and Bonobo's DJ set went down a storm at the Discover Great Thursday Kickoff Party, but don't worry if you missed it because things are getting even better over the rest of the weekend.

They may have struggled to connect with their Coachella crowd, but Outkast certainly impressed at CounterPoint.
Outkast returned home to Georgia for their stint at CounterPoint Festival 2014 - and fans were a lot more pleased this time round than they were at their comeback gig at Coachella.
Nothing was going to spoil the mood at this year's CounterPoint Festival. With a line-up headlined by one of the world's favourite veteran hip hop duos and also featuring Pretty Lights, Foster The People and STS9, not even the ferocious storm that swept the venue over the weekend engulfing festival goers in streams of mud was going to ruin the experience for anyone.
Coachella weekend 2, did Outkast fare any better second time around?
The Coachella festival has closed its gates for another year, but not before it got an almighty second weekend send off. Last weekend the festival brought plenty of star performances, special surprises and maybe a slight tinge of disappointment when it came to one of the most anticipated acts. So how did weekend two fare and most importantly were Outkast any better the second time around?
Outkast had to prove themselves after last weekend's disaster
Last weekend Outkast’s much hyped reunion was met with resounding negativity as poor sound quality and bad production values marred their set. One week later and it seems the duo have learnt from their mistakes as Billboard reports Andre 3000 and Big Boi took to the stage, “strutting with an emboldened confidence light-years from the standoffish attitude that came through the first weekend.”
This year's CounterPoint Festival kicks off next weekend.
Next weekend's CounterPoint Festival will be the event's first year at a new 5000-acre site, featuring campgrounds, a food court, bars (including a draught house), carnival rides, free water stations and its very own arts village. Oh, and then there's the music line-up.
This year's bill is headed by hip-hop stars Outkast, who make their hugely anticipated hometown return. Elsewhere, we'd have to point you in the direction of the blu Freedom Stage on Saturday (April 26, 2014) which boasts a pretty fantastic line-up starting with Wild Cub and St Lucia. As evening approaches, Janelle Monae will take to the stage, followed by J. Cole and headliners Foster the People.

It wasn't Outkast's smoothest show to date, but fans were just happy to have Andre and Big Boi reunited on stage .
Outkast – aka Big Boi and Andre 3000 – reunited for the first time in 10 years at Coachella Saturday night. It was a pretty big deal. The set was broadcast live, so even those unlucky souls who couldn’t shell out for the festival/didn’t feel like traveling for hours to have the three dustiest, most exhausting days of their lives, got to see Outkast perform. The gig generated 90,000 tweets in 24 hours, and by Monday afternoon the recorded set had been viewed more than 1.7 million times, according to NPR.
Andre's most recent endeavor was playing Jimi Hendrix in a biopic, to be released later this year.
There’s a lot of excitement in the air right now about the reunion, especially since Andre and Big Boi announced their 2014 festival tour. So far the tour includes 18 dates, with 40 gigs promised, but Outkast have made it clear that the reunion is not permanent. The duo are calling it a “victory lap” – a thank you to their loyal fans.
After all the hype, technical difficulties may have ruined their big return
Outkast made their long awaited comeback at Coachella, topping last night’s bill and making their first stateside performance for 12 years. But with all that expectation came only disappointment, if The Guardian’s review is anything to go by.
Outkast's Big Boi poses with fans
“It began promisingly, with what seemed like all 75,000 festival-goers attempting to find their own space to dance in the crowd,” wrote Rebecca Nicholson in a daming, 2-star review. “But that initial excitement at simply seeing Outkast on stage, together – for many of the young spectators, this will have been their first time – quickly ebbed away, and soon with it, the audience.”

OutKast Will Headline Bestival 2014
"Hey ya! By the power invested in me as chief Bestival booker, I'm pretty darn excited to announce that OutKast are headlining Bestival this year!" he said in a statement, "We've fought hard to get the recently reunited legendary hip-hop duo onto the ferry... and it's no ordinary ferry this year as Bestival goes Desert Island Disco for 2014. Palm trees, grass skirts and mirrorballs are the order of the day. It truly is gonna be the Bestival yet!"

Finally, the Outkast guys are back
It doesn’t seem right to be talking about the international headliners set to grace sun-drenched climes of Coachella 2014, not when January still plagues us so. But with Andre 3000 and Big Boi set to make a return as Outkast, there isn’t a lot else to talk about.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi are working together again
It’s confirmed: Outkast will be headlining the festival alongside Muse and Arcade fire in a line-up stellar enough to rival the world famous Glastonbury, which is also set to be headlined by the recently returned Reflektors.

The hip-hop star has agreed a fee to enter the Big Brother house for the next season of the long-running UK reality series.
Big Boi, the rapper who first found international fame and acclaim with the hip-hop group Outkast, has agreed to appear on the upcoming season of Celebrity Big Brother. The Sun first reported that the rapper will be heading to the UK for a stay at the infamous household, with the new season of the show due to air on Channel 5 later this year, or potentially by the start of 2014. Channel 5 have refused to comment on exactly when the show is due to return.
The rapper has had moderate solo success over the past three years
The rapper has achieved a considerable amount of solo success since OutKast split/went on hiatus, releasing his critically applauded first solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot the Son of Chico Dusty, in 2010 and the poorly received follow-up, Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumours, in 2012. In spite of this success and the fact that he has remained relevant since his OutKast days, the hip-hop star will be joining such washed up celebrities as Loose Women presenter Carol McGiffin, ex-football manager and known racist Ron Atkinson and Abz from the recently reunited boyband 5ive. Big Boi's appearance on the show isn't the first from a rapper either, as 'Gangsta's Paradise' rapper Coolio was the last rapper to appear on the show in 2009, with Maggot from UK parody hip-hop group Goldie Looking Chain coming in third place in 2006.

The news was announced this Wednesday, only days after the rapper celebrated his birthday
The mother of rapper and Outcast member Andre 3000, Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, died this Tuesday (May 28). The tragic news was announced by a representative for her son, real name Andre Lauren Benjamin, this Wednesday (May 29). The woman died peacefully in her sleep on the night of the 27th and is survived by her husband, Robert Hodo, as well as her son Andre.
Sharon was 52 at the time of her death, with the announcement providing no further details. During her lifetime, Sharon founded the The Starlight Camp, a program that supports underprivileged children. It is part of the New Morning Light Missionary Baptist Church in Conley, Georgia, whose pastor is her husband Robert.
The news of Benjamin-Hodo’s passing came right on the heels Andre’s 38th birthday, which the rapper celebrated on Monday (May 27). Unfortunately, he probably won’t have a lot of time to mourn, with his long list of upcoming engagements this year. He is one-half of the Grammy-winning hip-hop duo Outkast and has appeared in several films. He will play Jimi Hendrix in the biopic “All Is by My Side,” due out later in 2013.

Albums of Note... David Bowie’s return to the shelves of our local record shops (well, the few that still exist) has been met with a grateful and adulatory fanfare, across the board and it’s been no different here at Contactmusic. Having run out of contemporary influences upon which to draw, Bowie took the old adage that pop will eat itself and made an album to fit. On The Next Day, Bowie largely references himself and his own body of work, recalling his Berlin days, as well as providing an extension of the tracks he released in the nineties.“Assessing how The Next Day sits alongside anything else he's done is irrelevant; an artist who has gone through as many character changes, taken on as many styles and moved through as many eras as he has defies such lazy list making. What can be said is that it is, at this point in time, at this point in his life and career, probably as good a record that David Bowie could've possibly come up with.”
Some of the mystery of Rhye’s cloaked existence has been unveiled and the band’s two components have been revealed as Toronto born producer Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal of Quadron. They draw comparisons to The XX, partly thanks for Milosh’s falsetto, which led many to believe that it was a woman on vocals. Possibly part of the reason they choose to entitle the album Woman...? “'Woman' is a chilled, tranquil listen but not a boring album by any means. The duo creates songs that fill with distant, mysterious moods. But, it still feels like an intimate album piled high with textured layers.”
Big Boi has already appeared as a playable character in one game, Def Jam: Icon. This was, as I'm sure you can tell by the name, a hip hop inspired game, so it wasn't exactly far removed from Big Boi's comfort zone. This time around though, he and pal B.o.B. have collaborated both in and outside the game, reports E!
The pair have recorded the official theme song for the game 'Double Or Nothing' (in-keeping with that 'two' theme of the game title.) But they will also be appearing in the game, as characters that will help out the players: "operatives Charles 'Chuy' (pronounced "Chewy") Rendall and Anthony 'Baker' Barnes." The task for players being to "[take] down one of Mexico's most dangerous drug cartels."
The former duo member admits he has toyed with several music ideas but isn't dead set on releasing a solo debut any time soon. 'Things are kind of up in the air with me, and some days, I feel like yeah, I'll do it. Some days, I feel like, I don't', he told RollingStone.com. 'I record and I write ideas. I think I'll always do that... But I don't know if it will go to another artist or will it be my stuff or will it go to some movie? I don't know.' Three Stacks seems to have been happy to take a backseat in the music world in recent years, occasionally making guest appearances on other artists' tracks such as 'Party' by Beyonce, B.o.B's 'Play the Guitar' and, more recently, T.I.'s 'Sorry'. 'My whole motivation is, I don't want to mess these people's songs up, more than anything than let me do something great', he said on the subject.
His OutKast partner Big Boi, however, is now promoting his new solo album 'Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors' but admits that Andre hasn't made a guest appearance on that project despite rumours, joking that he's too busy shooting commercials for Gillette hair trimmers. 3K wasn't even aware that there were rumors of a reunion. 'I don't read the Internet. I've never had a Twitter, I've never had a Facebook', he insisted. 'None of that kind of stuff, because it makes me mad to read it sometimes. I just don't. I don't hear all the rumors.'
