Pamela Anderson is one of the world's most recognisable stars - in the headlines as much for her private life as her career over the past 25 years or so. And now she's back in the news as her divorce from professional poker player Rick Salomon is finalised.

The pair released a joint statement yesterday (Wednesday 29 April), People reports:

"Public divorces can be harsh and cruel - we apologize to our families and friends for any hurt and embarrassment we have caused. We have come to an amicable agreement and are moving on. There are private and personal family sensitivities to consider and we retract any hurtful comments made in haste and distaste. We wish each other and our families well."

According to TMZ, Rick has agreed to pay the Baywatch bombshell just north of $1million in the divorce settlement. The ex-couple, both 47, first tied the knot in Las Vegas in October 2007, but the marriage lasted only two months.

They took another stab at making things work by remarrying in January last year, but just six months later Anderson wanted a divorce, before petitioning to have the initial filing dismissed in August.

A source close to Pamela and Rick says their relationship failed to work out because of their "different philosophies about family and lifestyles."

The actress wed Tommy Lee in 1995 at the height of her Baywatch career. The marriage lasted until 1998. Her marriage to second husband Kid Rock lasted a few months in 2006.
