Biography

Paramore (formed 2004)
Paramore is an American rock band from Tennessee. The line up of the band is Hayley Williams on lead vocals and keyboard, Taylor York on rhythm guitar, Josh Farro on lead guitar and back-up vocals, Zac Farro on drums and Jeremy Davis on bass guitar.

Formation: Hayley Williams met the Farro brothers when she moved from Lauderdale County to Franklin, Tennessee, to attend private school. Initially, she played in a funk covers band along with Jeremy Davis, which was called The Factory.

The name Paramore is the maiden name of a previous bass player's mother.

In their formative months, the band played in and around Nashville, including a slot on the Vans Warped Tour. After watching Paramore perform at the Taste of Chaos festival, John Janick signed the band to the Fueled By Ramen label.

Debut Album & Beyond: A short time before they were due to record their debut album, Jeremy Davis left the band. The remaining four members continued with the planned recordings. The song 'All We Know' was written about his departure and the album, All We Know Is Falling is also thematically based around him leaving the band.

Before touring to promote the album, John Hembree was added to the band's line-up to replace Davis. However, Davis was later asked to rejoin the band, which he did, as Hembree had left after less than five months of Davis' absence.

The director Shane Drake directed the first two videos for the band, for the singles 'Pressure' and 'Emergency'.

In 2006, Paramore were featured on the Winter Go West Tour, along with The Lashes and Amber Pacific - both Seattle bands. Later that year, Hayley Williams provided vocals for October Fall on their song 'Upside Down'. The following year, she followed this by singing on 'Then Came To Kill' by The Chariot.

Paramore covered 'My Hero' by Foo Fighters for inclusion on the Sound of Superman soundtrack.

In the summer of 2006, Paramore embarked on their first headline US tour, with support from the likes of Cute Is What We Aim For and Hit The Lights.

Paramore' second album, entitled Riot! was released in June 2007. Following the departure of the original guitarist, Hunter Lamb, Taylor York joined the line-up. The album was produced by David Bendeth, who had previously worked with Breaking Benjamin and Your Vegas. The lead single from the album was 'Misery Business'.

At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, Paramore were nominated for the Best New Artist category but lost the award to Amy Winehouse. Early that year, they toured with New Found Glory and Kids in Glass Houses to promote the release of Riot! Following a short break to resolve differences within the band, Paramore hit the road again, this time with Jimmy Eat World.

When the film Twilight was released, two Paramore songs were included on the soundtrack - 'I Caught Myself' and 'Decode'.

A live album entitled The Final Riot! was released in November 2008.

In early 2009, Paramore were announced as a support act for No Doubt's Summer Tour.

Paramore - Manchester Arena 19.01.2018 Live Review

Last year's excellent 'After Laughter' saw Paramore embrace and fulfil an evolution that had been hinted at on their previous couple of records. Unleashed from the shackles of the emo-rock sound that brought them to the fore, it was packed with synth-influenced pop-rock anthems. Nearing the end of their European dates, next they head to Australia and Asia, before heading home for festival dates.

Paramore - Manchester Arena 19.01.2018 Live Review

The return of Zac Farro on drums is reinforced by the opening of the show, which sees an extended intro to the party-inducing 'Hard Times'. A nod to their heavier guitar material comes from 'Ignorance', while 'Still Into You' is another outpouring of energy between crowd and adoring audience. Gentle moments, such as 'Forgiveness' and 'Hate To See Your Heart Break' both show off an under-appreciated side to the band, as well as giving Hayley Williams a chance to catch her breath. On the uptempo numbers, she is an enigmatic presence who commands a stage much like Jagger, never missing a beat in her vocals or steps. An expanded seven-piece on stage, the musical backing is focused and intense - there's certainly no question of the band being uncomfortable or undeserving of the arena setting.

The continued set is largely drawn from the best of their latest record - 'Fake Happy', 'Pool' and 'Told You So' - while a leaf from Green Day's book of how to provide a memorable concert sees some fans partake in 'Misery Business'. Other catalogue favourites include 'Ain't It Fun' and 'That's What You Get', and perhaps tellingly, their debut album is left unreferenced. The popularity of commemorative anniversary shows for previous albums means this could be a mistake, yet you wouldn't tell from the reaction of those in attendance. Rather than a set of nostalgia, Paramore are rightly celebrating who they are now, and it makes for a hugely enjoyable show.

A Look At Fall Out Boy And Paramore's "Monumentour"

Fall Out Boy Paramore

When looking back on the history of Fall Out Boy and Paramore, it’s a little hard to believe that the two acts have never toured together. Both bands were labelmates on the record label Fueled By Ramen, and they also stormed the Top 40 and Billboard charts with their respective singles and albums over the years. Now, with both bands arguably at the highest points of their careers both musically and commercially, it only makes sense that they join forces and play some shows. Dubbed the ‘Monumentour,’ Fall Out Boy and Paramore will be taking out newcomers New Politics on 43 dates across the United States, with the tour having kicked off on June 19 in Hartford, Connecticut and ending on August 31 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Fall Out Boy LiveFall Out Boy and Paramore's tour started this week in Connecticut

“This tour will be different for us as a band because it is our legitimate first co-headline in a long time, if ever. You get limited by that and the bar is raised by that,” Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz said of the tour. It’s a different atmosphere for sure, because Fall Out Boy is no longer the clear powerhouse playing every night. Their last outing, the “Save Rock and Roll” tour, featured supporting acts such as Panic! At The Disco and Twenty One Pilots. However, for “Monumentour,” Paramore will be trying to prove exactly why they’re at number one on the Adult Pop song charts with their current hit, “Ain’t It Fun.” It isn’t a competition, of course, but one band has to outperform the other, right? With two shows as of this writing already in the books, whose been the clear standout so far?
