Paramount today (Wednesday) unveiled a new logo to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The logo displays a more-distant view of the company's mountain, with a sunrise (or sunset) behind it. The words "100 Years" is superimposed on the mountain. Paramount said that the logo will first be seen at the beginning of Mission Impossible -- Ghost Protocol, which opens first in IMAX theaters on Dec. 16. In 2013, the "100 Years" will be removed from the logo, the studio said. Actually, the first film to be produced by the studio, The Squaw Man , wasn't released until 1914. Presumably the studio is dating the birth of the studio from the time its founders, Cecil B. DeMille, Samuel Goldwyn, and Jesse L. Lasky came together to form the company, which was originally called Famous Players/Lasky Corporation.
