The Grey's Anatomy star stepped behind the wheel to complete the final leg for his Dempsey Proton Racing group to finish first in the FIA WEC Six Hours of Fuji competition in Japan on Sunday (11Oct15).

The victory marks Patrick's first major win in his racing career after previously finishing second at France's famous Le Mans 24-hour race in June (15).

After the event, the Hollywood hunk posted a picture of the team's trophy on his Instagram.com page, writing, "We did it! #6hFuji #porsche (sic)."

He went on to add pictures of himself standing on the winners' podium with his teammates.

The star has previously assured fans he has no plans to give up his acting career to become a full-time racing driver: "I'm not retiring from acting... I definitely love racing. I love the camaraderie and the fellowship. I think the challenge is with oneself and not so much your fellow competitors, necessarily. It's really stimulating both physically and mentally."

Patrick has been working in London in recent weeks filming the third installment in the Bridget Jones's Diary movie series.
