Veteran actor Paul Newman refuses to let his age stop his trademark daredevil stunts - so the 80-year-old agreed to be tied to 6,000 helium balloons and hoisted high above New York's Manhattan streets last week (ends27MAY05).
The BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID star rarely takes to the skies, because of his wife JOANNE's fear of flying, so he jumped at the chance of hovering 31 metres (100 feet) above the Big Apple, for US TV programme THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN.
He says, "There's a lot of good-looking people down there.
"My age is just a number. I'm not more careful than I used to be. I just keep on doing what I'm doing and don't pay it much attention at all.
