Paul Walker, Fast & Furious 6 Premiere
Paul Walker's death briefly threw the production in turmoil.

The movie was originally slotted for July 11th 2014, but production was stopped entirely, following Walker’s death in a car crash. After the tragic news was announced, producers at Universal deliberated for two days on how to handle the film in Walker’s absence.

In the end it was decided that filming would be temporarily halted, so that the cast and crew would have time to mourn and recover, while producers made the necessary changes to the movie. According to THR’s source, the production team would attempt to salvage footage already filmed with Walker, with writer Chris Morgan and director James Wan (who took over the franchise from Justin Lin) crafting revisions to the script that could retire Walker’s character in a believable and respectful way. Besides Diesel and Walker, the movie will also see returning cast members Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Dwayne Johnson.
