FALL OUT BOY singer Pete Wentz tried to commit suicide after the pressure of recording the band's first album on Island Records became too much to handle. The frontman suffered a breakdown during the recording of FROM UNDER THE CORK TREE last year (FEB05) and took a handful of anxiety pills in a desperate attempt to free himself of his depression. Wentz says, "My head was racing with self-doubt and negative thoughts. I just wanted to shut my head up. I didn't really think about whether I slept or died. "It was overwhelming. I was either totally anxious or totally depressed. It is particularly overwhelming when you are on the cusp of something very big and thinking that it will be a big flop. I was racked with self-doubt."
