File Photo** * ACTOR DANIEL ESCOBAR DIES Actor DANIEL ESCOBAR has passed away at the age of 49. Escobar, who was best known for his role as teacher Mr. Escobar on the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire starring Hilary Duff, died on Friday (13Dec13) in Los Angeles from complications from diabetes. In addition to his work on Lizzie McGuire, Escobar had a recurring role on the popular sitcom Dharma & Greg, and appeared in a number of U.S. TV series including Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Malcolm in the Middle, NYPD Blue, Two and a Half Men, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, and last worked in 2011 on short-lived sitcom Whitney. In 2008, Escobar won a coveted Helen Hayes Award for his role in David Greenspan's play She Stoops to Comedy, which was performed at the Woolly Mammoth Theater Company in Washington, D.C.
