Cosplay Charity Fundraiser Walks Australia as Star Wars Stormtrooper . . . - Thursday 20th November 2014

Cosplay Charity Fundraiser Walks Australia as Star Wars Stormtrooper . . . Scott Loxley has truly embraced The Dark Side, for a very good cause, on his quest to walk around Australia in full Star Wars Stormtrooper costume to raise money for the Monash Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. The ex-Australian Defence Force member, father and newly-wed from Greensborugh, Victoria, left the hospital in October 2013 (shortly after his wedding) on his 18 month journey to walk 15,000kms around Australia - covering every state and territory. Scott is an active 501st Legion member - an international Star Wars volunteer costuming organisation that attend events to raise money for charity. When he mentioned to local Melbourne 501st troopers that he was interested in walking around Australia for charity they said "why not do it in costume?" Scott has already walked over half of his quest and has just left the Northern Territory on his way to Queensland. His recent darkside antics in Darwin saw him jumping into crocodile cages and speaking to media about life on the road, enduring heat waves, bush fires, being away from family and eating fresh road kill including snakes and kangaroos. And he does it all with a smile knowing it is all for a great cause. Scott said: "As a father, if one of my children were hospitalised, I would want them to be cared for by the best staff who have access to the best equipment. I am a member of the 501st Legion, an international not-for-profit Star Wars costuming organisation who give their time to raise much needed funds for varying charities. As a member, I believe I can help make a difference and support this terrific cause. "I'm supporting the build of the new Monash Children's Hospital in Clayton, my local hospital back home. These guys care for over 30,000 children every year. Building the new hospital will mean the increase in the number of beds will help meet the needs of children and families in our community and that' - Australia - Thursday 20th November 2014 (29 images)
