Island Def Jam Music Group Appoints Sam Watters Vice President Of A&r, Island Records

Island Def Jam Music Group expands its A&R focus with the appointment of Sam Watters as Vice President of A&R, Island Records, it was announced today by David Massey, President, Island Records.  Mr. Watters will take a senior role in the A&R Department, actively seeking out, discovering and signing new talent.  Mr. Watters, who is based at Island Records in Santa Monica, will report directly to Mr. Massey in New York.

Mr. Watters has gathered impressive credits since his successful stint in the early '90s boy band sensation, Color Me Badd.  At age 19, he was lead and principal songwriter of the group's consecutive string of #1 hits, "I Wanna Sex You Up," "I Adore Mi Amor," and "All 4 Love."

Since that time, Mr. Watters has achieved a notable track record as a songwriter and producer.  He was responsible for launching the careers of Jessica Simpson (her debut single "I Wanna Love You Forever"), the significant international career of Anastacia (her debut single "I'm Outta Love" among many of her other songs), and Fantasia (her debut single "I Believe" and her #1 R&B song "When I See You").

Mr. Watters went on to write and produce hit songs for Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Natasha Bedingfield, Leona Lewis, and Westlife.  More recently, Mr. Watters has served as executive producer of Interscope recording artist Matthew Koma, and has written upcoming songs by Bebe Rexha, Afrojack, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Zendaya, Fifth Harmony, and Steve Aoki.
