Prince is reportedly getting set to play the UK as part of an upcoming solo tour. According to reports, the legendary musician will be putting down his guitar to embark on the 'Piano and a Microphone Tour', which will visit Europe later this year.

PrincePrince is expected to play the U.K. later this year.

The tour is said to be kicking off in Austria on November 21st, and ending in Belgium on December 22nd. It will also reportedly stop at four venues in the UK, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool and London.

In a statement Prince said: "Why do this now? For several reasons. For starters it is a challenge. I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that's been perfected for over 30 years.”

"You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get,” the musician added. Prince last hit the UK or a short run of dates in spring 2014. In 2013 he also played small venues across England as part of his ‘Hit and Run’ tour, where shows were announced on the day and some tickets went for as little as £10.

In September Prince released his thirty-eighth studio album, Hit n Run, initially via Jay-Z’s streaming service Tidal and then later on CD. The notoriously social media phobic singer has also recently joined Instagram with his Princestagram account. The account quickly went viral thanks to its combination of behind the scenes videos and memes uploaded by the musician.
