Priscilla Presley doesn't think her ex-husband got the credit he deserved.

The 70-year-old actress and business magnate was married to the 'Jailhouse Rock' hitmaker - who passed away in 1977, aged 42 - and she has suggested critics failed to recognise the extent of Elvis' talents.

Asked whether she thought he got the critical acclaim he deserved, Priscilla said: ''No I don't. God I wish people only knew what he would do to be able to get that sound. When you were in the recording studio with him he actually was the producer. He knew exactly what he wanted to hear and what he didn't want to hear. But people don't realise that he was a perfectionist and he lived his music.''

Priscilla is busy promoting a new album from the star titled 'If I Can Dream', featuring recordings of Elvis accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Reflecting on the new record, Priscilla said: ''In Vegas he was able to do what he wanted to do on stage and on his albums he wasn't, because you know it's just a little bit more sedate. Still when I hear the album it makes me feel good because it's something that I see him do on stage but [we've] been able to bring it to an album.''
