John Link hasn't been the best father, up until recently he's constantly been on the wrong side of the law and usually at the bottom end of a bottle too. Having been in prison, John and his daughter have become estranged, Lydia is actually missing and has been for years. John's only real connection to his daughter is the missing poster he keeps pinned up in his RV.

In recovery and now working a legal job as a tattoo artist, John admits that there's not much he wouldn't do to right the wrongs of his past - including losing contact with his daughter but also says there's very little he can do. When he receives a phone call from Lydia claiming that she's in serious danger, John is glad to hear his daughters voice but also worried about her safety.

As the father and daughter return to his home, John raids Lydia's possessions looking for answers and what he finds leads him to believe that she's in real danger. Lydia informs her dad that she's been living with a cartel leader and that, after accidentally shooting him, his crew is now out for vengeance. John must turn to past associates in order to formulate a plan to protect his troubled daughter.

Meghan Miles is a reporter whose best friends insist on taking her out and dragging her away from a night in alone wearing sweatpants. She is forced to don her friend's 'slutty', bright yellow dress that is unfortunately overly conspicuous and she is subsequently picked up by a charming stranger. Later on, however, she awakens with several voice messages from work explaining that the network are looking for a new anchor; this is the job of a lifetime for Meghan, but she has a serious mission if she wants to get to the studio on time - a mission that's made even more complicated when her car is towed away with her purse inside and she finds herself lost without money, ID or a phone. With everyone thinking she's just a roaming hooker, nobody seems willing to help her. Just what trouble will she have to push through to collect her belongings and get to work on time?

Jesse is already aware of the dangers of making a wrong move in the crime-led neighbourhood of Oxnard, California, but nothing would prepare him for a curious venture into the unknown that would engulf his soul in darkness. During a heavy party session, they see the body of a woman from the apartment downstairs being taken away as ambulances and police swarm the street. In a bid to uncover the mystery behind her death, Jesse and his friends sneak into the apartment where they find pools of blood everywhere, some strange looking video tapes and an altar decked with black magic paraphernalia. Not only that, but among the strange objects are photographs of Jesse, who wakes up the next day with a strange bite mark on his forearm. As time goes on, he starts to feel not quite himself as a supernatural and highly malicious force begins to take hold of him.

'The Counsellor' tells the story of a naive lawyer who holds the belief that dabbling in drug-trafficking is the best way to earn a little extra cash. However, that dabbling evolves into full-blown dealing which consumes his life and infects with all the corruption, betrayal and pain he thought he could avoid. Now with some seriously ruthless criminals on his tail, he begins to realise that there is nothing that these people will not do to get what they want and the odds on his life begin to get higher and higher. Unless he can work out who his friends are, he has no hope of returning to his normal life, but in a world where disloyalty affects everyone's relationships, he begins to wonder if he really has anyone there for him at all.

Directed by the triple Oscar nominated Sir Ridley Scott ('Prometheus', 'Gladiator', 'Alien'), this high-energy, gritty thriller is all about corruption and how smalls mistakes can lead to major consequences. The screenplay has been written by novellist Cormac McCarthy ('No Country for Old Men', 'All the Pretty Horses') and it features an exciting, star-studded cast ensemble. It is set to reach UK cinemas everywhere on November 15th 2013.
