Richie Sambora would like you to know that he absolutely did not threaten his lover and former business partner Nikki Lund. This week, Lund came out with the claim that the Bon Jovi guitarist threatened her life during a heated argument back in March.

Her claims gained traction and the authorities are now looking into the matter. According to the New York Daily News, police have confirmed that they want to talk to Sambora about the alleged threats.

For his part, Sambora denies any involvement. “This is a cluster of fabricated lies in retaliation for Mr. Sambora’s decision to cease further funding of the unprofitable partnership, plain and simple,” Sambora’s rep Terry Ahern told the Daily News on Friday.

An unnamed source for the News also reported Thursday night that Lund claimed to police that the 55-year-old rocker threatened to “dig a hole in the desert and bury” her there during the alleged call.

Sambora has not been touring with Bon Jovi since April 2013. Media speculation blamed the split on a variety of reasons, from financial disputes to Sambora’s presumed relapse into substance abuse. Nevertheless, the band have kept mum about the split, only citing “personal reasons”. For his part, Sambora has focused on solo music.
