Celebrities have reacted with anger to new reports that Michelle Williams was paid the tiniest of fractions of what her co-star Mark Wahlberg received for doing re-shoots of the new movie All The Money In The World.

Hollywood figures such as Judd Apatow, Busy Phillips and Jessica Chastain have come out in support of Williams, after a report by USA Today on Tuesday (January 9th) claimed that her castmate Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million for the extensive re-shoots on the film, while she made less than $1,000.

In early November, director Ridley Scott revealed that the extraordinary decision had been made to replace the movie’s lead star Kevin Spacey, following the dozens of allegations of serious sexual misconduct made against him, with veteran star Christopher Plummer, re-shooting all of his scenes with full cast in the space of only a few weeks to honour the original release date.

Rumour has it that Disney's forthcoming Arthurian movie 'The Merlin Saga' could receive the Ridley Scott treatment as it's alleged that he's signed on to direct it, while his production company may also be on board to produce. Both Disney and Ridley are yet to confirm.

Last year he launched two big movies - 'All the Money in the World' and 'Alien: Covenant' - and he's set to start work on the latter's sequel and the upcoming historical drama 'Battle of Britain'. But there's still plenty of time to unite with Disney for their exciting new project.

He may be one of the biggest directors on the planet, but filmmaker Ridley Scott doesn't think Disney would ever allow him to take charge of a brand new 'Star Wars' movie. In new comments made earlier this year, it seems Scott is somebody who agrees that Disney would be too restrictive in his creative freedom for him to want to take a flick in the franchise on.

Known for some of the wackiest and most daring films of the modern age, such as this year's 'Alien: Covenant' and 'Blade Runner 2049', Scott isn't somebody who has in the past allowed film studios to push him around and choke his creativity. In coming to 'Star Wars', he'd certainly be a risky choice for Disney if they let him have free reign, but we imagine that's not something they'd ever be willing to do.

Ridley Scott has broken his silence about his decision to re-shoot the entirety of his new movie All the Money In the World, replacing the disgraced Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in the lead role.

When the news broke in late October that Spacey had been accused by numerous men of inappropriate sexual conduct, the British director was forced into a difficult decision. He announced back on November 8th that he would re-cast the role of oil magnate John Paul Getty III with Christopher Plummer in the role instead of Spacey, shooting all of his scenes again while still intending to honour the December 22nd release date.

It’s a daunting task, but Scott told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday (November 29th) that everything was on course to meet the original deadline.

They say that where there’s a will, there’s a way, but that could be stretching it in the case of the imminently released movie All the Money in the World, whose producers have decided to recast the film with Christopher Plummer replacing the disgraced Kevin Spacey, a little over a month before its official cinematic release.

The movie is directed by Sir Ridley Scott and was to star Kevin Spacey in the lead role as the late oil magnate John Paul Getty.

However, since the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against Spacey surfaced a fortnight ago and which have kept on coming, Scott and Sony/TriStar have taken the decision to re-shoot all of Spacey’s scenes with 87 year old actor Christopher Plummer in his place – but still intend to honour the scheduled release date of December 22nd!

The Alien franchise has a history of female protagonists (Sigourney Weaver in the first four, then Noomi Rapace in Prometheus), and Katherine Waterston takes the central role in Alien: Covenant. With this film, director Ridley Scott combines the horror-movie tone of his original Alien movie with the philosophical musings of prequel Prometheus.

"Ridley Scott gets off on terrifying the audience," Waterston says, admitting that the genre was a challenge for her. "I was wondering if it was going to be difficult to keep the anxiety level up all day. I think it may have been, with another director. But because Ridley moves so quickly, the pace on set was really energised all the time."
