Rihanna has been revealed as the most streamed female artist on Spotify in 2015, despite not releasing a new album. Fans of the pop queen clearly haven’t been too put off by the lack of new music, voraciously devouring her back catalogue as she racked up just over 1 billion streams for the year.

Spotify unveiled its end-of-year list on Tuesday (December 1st), which also showed Canadian rapper Drake to be the most streamed artist of the year altogether, with 1.8 billion plays of his back catalogue throughout the year after he dropped fourth album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late at the start of 2015.

Ed Sheeran, who was the most listened-to artist of 2014, was in second place this time around, although that was more than enough to secure him the title of most streamed British artist. The Weeknd, Maroon 5 and Kanye West constituted the rest of the top five.

Canadian star Justin Bieber, whose recent career turnaround with new album Purpose has grabbed headlines, earned the most streams in a single day when the new record dropped on 13 November, with 36 million people pressing play.
