‘X-Factor’ judge Rita Ora had a tough time on Sunday night’s edition of the ITV talent show. The singer, who is new to the judging panel this year, had to decide which six contestants would make it to the judge’s houses round during the show’s tense Six Chair Challenge.

Rita OraRita Ora has picked her six girls to take to the judge’s houses.

Ora has been given the Girls category to mentor this series, with Nick Grimshaw taking the Boys, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini the Groups and Simon Cowell (much to his disgust) getting the Over-25s. This year (for the first time ever) the judges’ categories were chosen by public vote.

Contestant Karen Mav initially won a seat with her rendition of Etta James’ ‘I'd Rather Go Blind’. But the 23 year old was soon unseated by Ora, who chose instead to take 18 year old Kiera Weathers, who sang Whitney Houston classic ‘I Will Always Love You’.

"I'm so sorry,” Ora told Mav, who had started crying after she was unseated. The audience at the Wembley's SSE Arena also seemed unhappy with Ora’s decision, chanting ‘Bring her back’ to the judge. “The crowd did not like that decision,” host Olly Murs commented.

Also going home was Kelly Mai Webb who did not impress with her rendition of Patti Smith’s ‘Because The Night’. But Katie Coleman's performance of Christina Aguilera's ‘The Voice Within’ managed to cause a spat between Ora and fellow judge Simon Cowell.

"You were better the first time, but if it was me, I would give you a chair," Cowell told the 21-year-old. "Not one of those. I'd give you a chair at home. I don't think it was good enough.”

"That was just rude. Simon, if you would just like to mind your own business and wait until your category comes up,” Ora snapped back. However the judge still decided to send Coleman packing.

Londoner Monica Michael, who had failed to make the final six in 2014, got her chance this year after singing ‘What is Love’. Michael will be joined at Ora's house by 21-year-old Chloe Paige, Louisa Johnson, Lauren Murray and Havva Rebke.

Next week it will be Nick Grimshaw’s turn to pick his final six Boys, then Simon Cowell will get his chance with the Overs and then Cheryl will chose her Groups. Once the judges have found their final six contestants, they will then be taken to the judges’ houses before the live finals begin on October 31st.
