She announced in June that she was leaving 'The Voice' to join the ITV reality singing contest instead, but has spoken about her decision for the first time today.
New judge on ‘The X Factor’ Rita Ora has revealed that she couldn’t say no to Simon Cowell’s offer once she had heard about the organisers’ new plans for the reality TV show, and that it was this that was the primary factor in her decision to leave ‘The Voice’.
The 24 year old hitmaker spoke to Lorraine Kelly on the British morning chat show ‘Lorraine’ about her high-profile network switch from the BBC to ITV, saying that she just wanted “to be a part of it” when she heard about the new ideas.

“When Simon approached me and he explained to me the show and what they are planning to do this year, I wanted to be a part of it,” the chart star said. “What’s so great about the new line up - which is really exciting - is that you have four different perspectives, you know. You’ve got all these amazing musicians and business-minded people on the same panel that know music and I’m just happy to be a part of that.”

It was revealed last month that Rita had eventually agreed to join the judging panel for the upcoming twelfth series of ‘The X Factor’, taking the place of the departing Mel B for a reported £1.5 million fee. She’ll join fellow judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw, the latter of which is also a newbie to the show in place of Louis Walsh.
Rita continued: “It was the new line up, the plans that they have moving forward with the show, the changes, it just really got me excited and if I can find talent and help somebody I would, so for me it was perfect.”
She also revealed that she’s already done a bit of bonding with her new colleagues, getting together with Cheryl and Nick for a casual drink recently: “I got to meet her when we had a separate meeting with the new line up - me, Grimmy and Cheryl - Simon wasn't there. It was a really amazing catch up, no pressure, we had a drink and it just felt really natural.”
